First Update released, there's still a minor problem of game eternally loading after a win condition, currently being worked on. Sorry about that.
Fixes:
- Volume slider added.
- Volume adjusted.
- Esc control added to exit the game properly.
- Optimized by subverting taxing environment elements.
- Information about subtle game elements for better player informing added.
- Visual changes were made mainly in post processing to optimize and visually change the tone.
Report any bugs via email or other means. Please explain steps to recreate the problem.
How to use the periscope:
Pressing E makes you use the periscope, pressing E again makes you not use it.
How to use the gasmask:
Gasmask is the only item that can be chained with other objects. Press E to wear the gasmask, then you can switch to other items. If you press 5 again, you will take off the gasmask. This is so that the item can be used with other items.
What does the water bottle do?:
You can use it on a MAXIM gun while it has vapor over the barrel to cool it. Parts from the gun can break if you fire it while it's heated. There's a small extra vapor to indicate dangerous heat level. If a is broken then go into maintenance(R) to fix it.
Things about the game that players misinterpreted as bugs:
Not knowing what to do in the maintenance part:
I will not be putting a tutorial for maintenance part (Pressing R while using the gun) as that is supposed to be a puzzle. Giving out solutions to the puzzle makes no sense. Game expects the player to be knowledgeable in the subject.
I don't have a gun and can't get one:
Game is designed to not be able to use a gun inside the trenches to point out the reflection of human barbarism, so there is no gun in the game that you carry. Shovel is your only friend.
I die randomly for no reason:
There is a shell shock system in the game that also functions as a parallel to health system. Text/visual and audio cues such as loud stinger sounds imply that your mental health is at the breaking point.
Explosions around the trenches slightly raises the shell shock, while looking at drama objects such as corpses or dolls make you go insane real quickly. If you go insane, you die. Also hitting defeated enemies in the trenches increase shell shock terribly. So you have to be fast and contain your attack to prevent hitting enemies when you defeat them. In a future update better visual cues for shell shock are planned, only black overlays and text are displayed for now. Looking at the Lady of Death statue removes shell shock.
Gun not working even after reloading:
There is a clanking sound that implied that something in the gun is broken, this is due to heat, that is shown over the barrel as vapor. Either use the water can(item) to lower the heat or prepare to repair when the parts break. The more you fire with the gun heated the more likely the gun parts can break.
Hint: Check both sides of the gun for broken parts.
Green guy in the gasmask phases through objects:
This is not a bug. The New Death is the metaphor for gas warfare. So gas can move through places unexpectedly, this was shown as the New Death phasing through ground like a ghost, while itself being a representation of death. Gas would often creep back into the ally trenches so the random movements of the gasmask is not a bug, I coded extra for it to move randomly while phasing through things like a ghost. The original movement was sequential as I thought it could chase the player through the trenches, but eventually decided that is shows come agency and does not reflect the chaotic nature of gas warfare.
Artillery falls so far away:
Artillery at the time was bombardment and was rarely accurate unlike modern weaponry, so it can deviate terribly by design.
