Hi players!
If you have read through the information under "Early Access" you know that the development is currently focusing on bringing more challenges to the game play. The first instalment is this update with wild animals that can chase you, harm you, and potentially kill you.
Bandages for your wounds will follow in a later update, so survival will get tricky in our world for a while. Don't worry though - as long as your tribe builds enough Cairns to show the way, you can always respawn and find your way back to what you were doing before those pesky animals killed you ːsteamhappyː
The Howlers are hunting in packs of 3-4 animals. They chase both Hoppers, Zezelles, and humans. They will prefer slower individuals, like children or elderly players, so the tribe must try and keep these vulnerable people safe!
Killing one of the pack will make the others abandon the fight. If you don't have a spear, then RUN! If you run far enough, they will lose interest. Running though jungle is also a good way to confuse them.
The Death-Claw is usually alone. If you go too close to it, it will start stalking you and will eventually charge. The best you can do when it charges is to run. It will chase you for a while, but will eventually get exhausted. At that point you can escape, but if your goal is to kill the Death-Claw, then your only chance is to succeed with a spear thrust while it is exhausted. If you fail, it will immediately attack you again.
We do not recommend anyone taking on a Death-Claw on their own. If you collaborate, then one player can act as a lure, while the other player conserves their stamina and then attack when the Death-Claw is exhausted. Death-Claws will hunt and eat Zezelles, so they can be used to distract it.
The Chickarex is not your pet! If you go too close to its nest while it is close, it will attack.
On the other hand, chickarexes will also attack Howlers and Death-Claws, and can be used to distract them.
You can get wounded multiple times. Each wound will deal some direct damage and some damage over time. A light wound shows as scratches on your arm, while a medium one shows as claw marks on your thigh. If you get a large wound on your chest and abdomen, then it will be a mortal one. Use the time you have left to say farewell to your fellow tribe members ːsteamsadː
You can't generate health while you are still wounded, but as soon as the wounds are healed, you will begin to generate health again (as long as you have eaten enough food)
Finally, fire is a good way to keep dangerous animals away. Consider having several fires going at your camp at all times.
