Hi all!
Hope you all are enjoying the holidays!
Have been trying to focus on polishing systems, new weapons, and new enemies.
Here's what's new
New stats you can upgrade during runs
This update adds 3 new upgradeable stats to help scale your build during your run. The new stats are:
Power: Increases damage dealt by all weapons, powers, and utilities.
Processing: Increases attack speed and crit rate. Decreases cooldowns and cast times.
Durability: Increases max health, damage resistance, and smash attack damage.
I'm planning to add some cards that scale uniquely with these stats in the future.
Upgrade kits
To upgrade each of the stats above, you need to find Upgrade Kits, a new rare loot that drops from enemies and can be used to upgrade one of the three stats.
Melee weapons are now gadgets
Instead of cards, melee weapons are now gadgets that you can pick up and sheath/unsheath as much as you'd like without interrupting the flow of your card cycling.
Before this update, melee weapons were cards which felt bad because they interrupted the flow of your card cycling (since all other cards are ranged) and were very weak/risky due to their brief duration and requiring you to get so close to enemies.
I am finding them to be much more compelling as gadgets since you can actively choose to activate them and keep them active for as long as you like. I've reduced their damage a bit but overall they still pack quite a punch which I think is fair since they require you to get up close and personal.
Omnidrones join the fight!
I've been realizing that flying enemies present some unique challenges (they are strong counters to lots of heavy weapons) so I want to get more into the game. I also think they add a lot to the bullet hell pillar I'm working towards.
This update adds the Omnidrone which comes in three flavors - normal, rocket, and frost.
Other stuff
- Buffed bosses and enemies
- Reduced attack speed bonus from Adrenaline from 2x to 30%.
- Lots of fixes to bonus damage, perks, damage resistance, etc I found while working on the melee weapon revamp.
- Killed a lot of old code and tech debt.
Dev time is rare for me right now with the day job so trying to spend more time on dev and less on marketing/patch notes so I might have missed some stuff.
Plan for next few updates is to continue to focus on polish, new cards, and new enemies.
As always, would love to hear from you in the Discord
