We are happy to finally announce the new update to Choo-Choo! The Train Rides!, bringing in Native Linux Support, life-quality updates and a bunch of bug-fixes!

Linux Support:

Today we are bringing official native GNU/Linux support based on AppImages. Yes, unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately for some), we decided to bundle it this way since we encountered some issues with the steam-runtime.

It was well-tested with all the newest Ubuntu distributions starting from 16.04 LTS, as well as Arch Linux. But in general, most of the distributions should work just fine.

• Updated gamedata file format.

  All of the old Windows gamedata files should automatically sync & translate to the new formats, but if you encounter any issues, we strongly advise deleting them.
• Significantly improved game performance.
• Fixed gamma-related issues on various systems.
  (The game should look much brighter now.)
• Removed rather annoying rain effect
  (We would like to rework and release it in the future patches.)
• VSync is now enabled by default.
  (You can disable it using -disable_vsync launch argument.)
• Disabled Steam Leaderboards updates during gameplay to avoid possible stuttering on low-end hardware.
• Changed font filtering mode.
• Disabled some dev-environment features appearing in production builds.
• Fixed possible input-related issues.
• Fixed possible gameplay issues caused by a corrupt gamedata file.
• Updated gamedata file sanitizer.
• Improved obstacle generation algorithm.
• Updated crash handler.
• Added Steam Enhanced Rich Presence.
• Fixed misleading 'Leaderboards' button link.
