Rebound v0.54.0

Dev note: We're really excited about this patch and the features it brings to the game. Many requested gameplay tweaks, a new arena type, new tools for practice, and so much more. We know it's been a little bit since we put out an update so thank you all for your patience and we hope you all think the wait was worth it. Special thanks to everyone who helped us decide on the gameplay changes and find bugs before the launch.

This update provides us with the foundation we needed to bring our focus to ranked

Gameplay

Reduced dash strength. This change makes controlling the puck during dashes easier. This change also makes quick side-to-side dashes require the use of the stop mechanic which raises the skill ceiling.

Increased stick mass. This makes touches with the puck more consistent.

Puck speed rework. We've reworked how we handle max puck velocity and can now separately control max puck speed in the air, on the ice from non dash-shots, and on the ice from dash-shots. With the stick mass change above we had to rebalance everything in this regard. It should be generally close to what was in the previous patch. We did slow down lifted shots a bit and speed up on-ice dash-shots to give players more incentive to use them.

Keyboard & Mouse / Controller rebalance. In conjunction with the above changes, we've been focused on rebalancing

Chip puck mechanic. The mechanic results in a lifted puck that doesn't have a lot of speed It's a great option as a change-up shot or a short pass over a defender's stick. The mechanic can be performed with a dash + lift and a very slight rotation of the stick.

Updated head hitbox . We noticed some goals were being scored where a player was generally positioned in a good spot. This new head shape should be more forgiving in those cases. You should also now notice that the puck deflecting off of the head has more predictable results than before. Additionally, pucks that hit the top part of the player head are less likely to deflect up and over a player.

General

One-timer practice mode.

Mini Slapstadium Arena. The new arena is available for custom games. It features a smaller rink where the area behind the net was removed. We think this should make 1v1s and 2v2s more viable and fun in custom games.

Hat trick effect. Spectators now throw hats on the ice when a hat trick is scored

Call puck. Players can call the puck to the forehand of their stick in the free and obstacle practices by pressing a single button [default Q on KBM, D-pad Up on Controller]. In practices where this is enabled players can also set a custom spawn location (and rotation) [default C on KBM, D-pad Down on Controller], set a puck spawn location [default F on KBM, D-pad Left on Controller], and set a puck target location [default G on KBM, D-pad Right on Controller]. Holding the puck spawn location or puck target location buttons will raise the height of them. Pressing the reset button [default R on KBM, Select on Controller] when a puck target is set will instantly move the puck from its spawn location to the start. Holding the reset button will reset everything back to default. To accompany this there are also new dev console commands 'callpuckspeed' & 'callpuckrandom' (with inputs speed & pos ([for position])
Examples:

callpuckspeed 2 //callpuckspeed is the default speed
callpuckrandom speed 1.2 //callpuckrandom speed isa multiplier applied to the upper limit of callpuckspeed
callpuckrandom pos 5 //callpuckrandom position varies the horizontal location of the puck target

Shot speed on goals. Goals will now display the speed on the puck (note this is in mph for US and UK and kph elsewhere)

Speedometer. A shot speedometer has been added to the top of the net in the obstacle practice

More fireworks. When players achieve a new Personal Record in any of the practice modes, fireworks will now display for a short period of time

Team Locker room helmet colors. Helmets on the shelves in the locker room now display with the current team color.

New ads.. To help support the development of the game we've implemented some new ad locations and made some adjustments to all of the arenas and rinks to accommodate them. We'll be doing some additional updates to make them fit in even better soon.

Cosmetics

Additional Premium perk. Slappers with premium now receive edge LED glasses

Head cosmetics. Knight helmet, miniature hat, wizard hat, astronaut helmet, Thief
Eyewear cosmetics. Ski goggles, Bandit
Stick cosmetics. LED, Sword, Butcher
Jersey cosmetic. Boom
Back cosmetics. Knight shield, Satchel, Salty
Glove cosmetics. LED, Thief

New variants. Watermelon, executioner, shutter glasses, gauntlet, cubana

Quality of life

Auto reset zoom. Changing camera settings where zoom is calculated will now automatically reset zoom

God mode. As an ode to some of our favorite childhood games we've added a 'god' dev console command for infinite stamina and dizziness in practice, this will save across sessions.

Custom high latency indicator threshold. Added a new 'sethighlatencyindicator' dev console command for players to set the ping at which the high latency indicator displays
Example:
sethighlatencyindicator 70 //will show the high latency indicator only when your ping at or above 70

Optimized target shatter. The target shatter effect in some practice modes has been optimized and is now linked to the particle effects setting so it can be disabled.

Reduced winning team nametag size. The size of names for the winning team on the end-screen podium has been reduced

Optimized goalie practice. The huge FPS drop that arose when players got into the thousands of saves should now be resolved

More legible 'Reset' text. There is now an outline around the "Reset" text in some practice modes to make it more legible

Fixes

-Server and client performance optimizations, reducing the amount of bandwidth used resulting in more stable latency and a smoother experience online

-Fixed own team indicators not setting correctly when changed mid-game/practice
