I'm excited to release the latest major update to Bullets Squared. As promised, it contains the new game mode: Battle.

Battle is a multiplayer mode, with up to 4 players, where you play the same level in parallel, and compete for the highest score. The unique addition to Battle mode, is the option to spend some of your points to send attack squares to your opponents, with the hope of disrupting their combos. You'll have to weigh the amount of points you are willing to sacrifice to mess with your rivals.

The new game mode utilizes simple Steam lobbies for easy game hosting. You can create lobbies for levels you have unlocked, and join them via the in-game lobby browser, or via direct invites through the Steam chat.

Currently only Normal game mode is available (Endless is still a work in progress), with any of the three difficulties configurable by the lobby host. Only the host can start the game. If the host leaves the lobby, the role is passed on to the next available player.

In addition to the new game mode, some bugfixes are also be included, including improved progress data validation on version updates, and some graphic glitch fixes.

Detailed changelog:
  • Implemented P2P multiplayer through Steamworks
