Auto Save Reworked


Days before the launch of Divided Reigns, we had many streamers checking out the game. Though we'd already gone through a rigorous playtesting cycle for months, the streamers all had one major request: autosave!

We implemented the autosave feature 2 days before launch... and it's been a headache ever since. We have even received one negative review because of it. :-(



We have a new autosave feature! Now, the topmost save file will be reserved for the autosave feature. No more overwriting your current saved game!

One important note: If you were using the first save file slot (formerly file 1), BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE, you will need to load that game and save to a new slot. We doubt this will be a problem for 99.9% of players, but we'd hate for anyone to lose their progress. A banner at the beginning of the game is there to make sure no one misses this and loses a save file.

A little more specifics on how the new autosave feature works: I manually placed every autosave to make sure it only happens at safe and optimal times. With a few exceptions, autosaves will happen generally in three places:
  1. When entering either of the world maps
  2. When entering a town, dungeon, or other location from the world maps
  3. Moving between screens in any dungeon

Harder Hard Mode!


If you played Einlanzer (especially from launch) you know I (Andrew) like my RPGs hard. Probably too hard. The difficulty of both Einlanzer and now Divided Reigns has crept down steadily through development. Now, a few players on hard mode (and myself included) think hard mode is too easy. Now it's harder! Yey!

Former stat changes for hard mode were...
90% HP, MP, and Agility
75% Attack, Magic attack, Defense, and Magic Defense
-25 Luck

New stat changes for hard mode are...
75% HP, Defense, and Magic Defense
90% MP and Agility
67% Attack and Magic Attack
-25 Luck



Bug Fixes


As usual, there are too many bug fixes to list here (thank you again to everyone reporting them in our discussion board) but here are a few major bugs that we've now fixed.
  • All 9 towns are now working properly for liberation.
  • Corrected the "Low Attacks" skill name listed when learning Tumble. "Low Stance" doesn't exist.
  • Previously, you essentially could no longer use your ship after you got the airship. It was landlocked outside the sonic temple cave entrance. Now, after you have both ship and airship, whenever you sleep at any town inn, the ship will teleport to the closest ocean spot to that town!
  • Max level is back down to 99. It was too buggy and messed up balancing late game.
  • Monster hunters no longer shapeshift into each other when turning in bounties.
