uFactory update for 18 April 2021

Campaign Winter Update Released to Beta

Version (the Winter Update) has been released to the beta branch.

To join the beta, right click uFactory in your Steam library and choose "Properties". Then, choose the "nextversion_publicbeta - v0.5.0 Public Beta" option. No private code is required. Steam should then update the game to the beta version through its normal update process. Once complete, you can launch the beta!

WARNING: This is an early beta of an Early Access game. We're not going to warn you that it might be broken. We can tell you with certainty that it is absolutely broken. So, if that's not your thing, then please keep waiting for a more stable version to release.

WARNING 2: Save files are incompatible between previous versions of uFactory and 0.5. Please back them up if you want to save them. Otherwise uFactory will update your save manufacturing company profile to the latest version and ignore your standalone factory save files.

Changes in this patch:

  • Added seasonal changes to planet map based on time of year
  • Added campaign intro screen, explaining basic concepts for new players
  • Added sale offer placement for player factories. Set your price and let others in the world decide if they want to buy from you.
  • Fixed nonresponsive cancel buttons in place new order window
  • Reduced maximum height of smaller mountains
  • Rebalanced economy, including (A) changing # of units in case/barrel/tank (it's now usually 50/16/50 respectively, with some exceptions), (B) seriously nerfed AI factory production rates, allowing them to better fine-tune the economy, but at higher cost of both space and capital, (C) raised rents, and (D) increased city populations.
  • Added several balance customization options to the New Campaign menu.
  • Fixed invoicing for logistics deliveries
  • Changed icon color of unoccupied industrial parks to orange
  • Changed factory production display from daily to weekly
  • Added back smokestacks to industrial parks
  • Fixed bug showing outdated data on empty tiles
  • Nerfed frequency of competitor AI evaluations, and added configurable setting for it

  • Gave industrial parks a separate pool of names to pull from (they used to use the same pool as city names), sourced from the hottest and coldest parts of Earth
  • Added one more gas output to vacuum distiller machine
  • Cleaned up names of several solid resources, removing unnecessary packaging prefixes
  • Fixed overflow when many pages are bookmarked in the tablet menu
  • Added "X" button to tablet home page bookmark buttons to remove them from that page
  • Added process diagrams to the types of pages that can be bookmarked in the tablet
  • Rebalanced planet map detail generation algorithm for some biomes
