Me too!
Various game balances were put in to try to reduce the chance of this, most importantly:
Max damage per second
Players now have max damage per second capped at 35% of their health. So it should take 3 seconds of total obliteration to finally finish players off now. There's a little breathing room to get out of dodge and get some health now.Along with a New Upgrade, which reduces max damage per second by 5% each upgrade.
Loading screen with gameplay tips
Just something to round off the game a bit. There's a lot of strategy involved, and hopefully this will continue to teach players after they finish the tutorial.Doors have more information
- Open a Door screen has tips now, giving a little more information and strategy about the various doors as you hover over them.
- Holding Shift, L1, or R1 on this screen shows you which upgrades are behind the doors. Less mystery, yay!
- Fixed the placement of the already-opened-door icons on this screen too
Various game balances
- Spider boss has his legs set back a little bit, to give the player more room to roam during the fight
- Giant mosquito and kissing bugs had their damage reduced a little, since I kept seeing players getting surprise-obliterated by them. These are some of the "Scary Bugs", if you know what I mean, James and Lee
- Disabled the wider and narrower spread/straight shots until you have multiple of those types of shots. I kept seeing players grab them when they were useless. I need to communicate these upgrades' effects better, but this should be a start.
- Very slightly easier scaling overall. (Probably, especially with the new Max Damage Per Second stat...)
Gameplay change
Screw no longer goes through webs or ants. That was a relic of when screw cost stamina, and stamina is no more. So screw was getting a little over powered in that regard. There's a little "suggestion" for gun to use- the cursor starts in a random place. Might give 10% more exp for this random selection in the future...
Bug fixes
- Sfx fix when you end the game with screw on
- Wrong sfx was used moving to select gun screen
- 'Max focus achieved' messages (achievement unlocked, basically) now appears even when the story is turned off
