Hello friends,
This new update comes just a year after the Bombing Quest Early Access release. Looking back it’s just amazing to see how much the game has improved during that time and how it became so much better than we initially projected.
The central point of this update is the new skill system, that allows for a quick development of new skills and their easy exchange between playable characters, mobs or other entities. That lays foundation for easy implementation of different game modes and heroes in the future.
The Ancient Paths biome got redesigned with an atmospheric new look. Many traps got introduced or improved. Many performance issues got resolved.
New Content:
- 4 new Skills: Ride Beast, Plant Pumpkin Bomb, Detonator, Throw Teleport Pad
- 5 new Gadgets: Beast Shoes, Scarecrow Head, Advanced Soul Emitter, Pad Recharger, Hide of the Supreme Beast
- Fully redesigned Ancient Paths biome, filled with the ruins of a forgotten civilization.
- 5 new traps: Pumpkin Plants, Smasher, Multismasher, Spikes, Energy Platforms
- 2 new types of activated gates
- 3 Updated Bosses: The Fallen Guardian, The Forgotten One, The Broodmother
- 1 Redesigned trap: Swamp Shooter
- 1 new GUI screen for skill binding and selection.
- 3 Removed Traps: Moving Platforms, Giant Mouth, Evil Egg
- 1 Removed Obstacle: Infested Rocks
- 1 Removed Quest: The Talisman
Changes:
Gameplay:
- The new skill system introduces changes in the controls and spell casting - now you must choose 3 skills to bind to your skill keys before using them.
- Gates opened by skills are added in some areas to introduce a little bit of a Metroidvania vibe.
- 3 additional Advanced Components (1 Upgrade slot) added.
- Lots of small balance changes in enemies and bosses.
- Fixed bugs related to functionality of some of the gadgets.
Graphics:
- Visual style of the game evolved in a more stylised, hand painted direction, replacing the realistic look.
Engine:
-Completely new player movement and animation system.
-Many objects manually culled or removed to improve performance.
-Some shaders were replaced/removed to improve performance.
-Performance reducing bugs fixed.
-Updated resolutions selection.
-Updated controls configuration.
-Modular loading system update: Made it easier to add new game modes and biomes in the future.
