Hello Trivia Fans!
For our twelfth regular update we have collected player feedback and significantly expanded the rule customization options, alongside adding some extra achievements and cosmetics!
Players told us they wanted to be able to increase or decrease the question timer, change answers after selection, and to opt for a less (or more!) score impacting Chance Round. In order to implement these options we've redesigned the lobby hosting screen to suit the range of ruleset options now available. Please let us know what you think, and any more ideas on more gameplay customization tweaks you would like to see!
The cherry on top of this update is three additional achievements, including one we reckon will be our hardest challenge yet! Good luck!!
The full changelist for Trivia Tricks version 0.8.14.0 is as follows...
More Game Customization!
-
Hosts can now choose to allow players to change their answers after selection in Standard Trivia games
-
Hosts can now also choose to allow everyone to see each other's answers during a Standard Trivia game. Please note however that AI answers will remain hidden!
-
Chance Round odds can now be customized – alongside the existing ‘Off’ and ‘Normal’ we have also added ‘Fair’ and ‘Chaotic’!
-
‘Fair’ removes the 1.5x and 1/2 chance balls, especially useful in medium and long games!
-
While ‘Chaotic’ significantly increases the chance of those multiplier balls appearing!
New Lobby Menu!
-
The Lobby menu has been redesigned to be clearer, and give us space for additional customization options in future!
-
Modes and bonuses now have text to explain how they impact gameplay.
-
Bosses now little personality biographies and a star rating to represent their difficulty.
-
The game start countdown timer for when most of a lobby has readied up is now closer to the 'Ready' button and always visible.
Three New Achievements!
-
Even more achievements, which unlock even more cosmetics!
-
Sticking to Your Guns
- To unlock, be the only player to get an answer right in a Co-Op game with 4 or more players!
- This unlocks the Cowboy Hat!
- Tuesday Tussle
- To unlock, Beat a Boss in Co-Op during Trivia Tuesday!
- This unlocks the Steampunk Shirt!
- HONK!
- To unlock, get every question wrong in an entire Standard Trivia game!
- This unlocks the Clown Wig! (honk)
General Experience Improvements
-
After selecting an answer that answer will become highlighted. This is turned off if more than one person is playing on your machine to prevent you from seeing each other's answers.
-
There is now also a hover effect when mousing over answers.
-
When playing a Vs Boss game, your Steam friends list will now show you as being in a 'Vs Boss' game rather than a 'Trivia' game.
-
Screen transitions are now significantly more responsive.
-
Loading times have been heavily reduced.
-
When a player joins a game the unusual camera transition, and Trickster 90 degree spin, has been replaced with a more sensible smoke ‘pop’ effect.
-
Increased Negative's difficulty - he's now smarter and can streak more consistently! This should put him more in line with the difficulty we were expecting to see.
-
Achievements and cosmetics that must be unlocked in Standard Trivia mode now explicitly mention this in their descriptions.
Question Database Update
-
Significantly expanded the question count of the Music and Sports categories!
-
Added more questions to the Art/Literature, Film/TV and Video Game categories!
-
Added many additional questions suggested by the Discord community! Thank you to everyone who has suggested questions so far!
-
Fixed some question typos, and cleaned up the wording on a variety of questions. Thank you to all of you who reported these to us directly!
Bug Fixes
-
Fixed a bug where players could change the number of rounds played when playing Vs Boss.
-
Fixed a bug where if you joined midgame, and hadn't been in that game before, you started with 0 points instead of the points of the lowest player.
-
Fixed a bug where if you joined midgame, and it was a Standard Trivia game with Chance Round enabled, the Chance Round's ball machine would be invisible.
-
Fixed a bug where if you joined midgame, and then left while joining, the AI would be stuck facing sideways for the rest of the game.
-
Fixed a bug where if you joined midgame, and there was more than one player on your machine, then left then rejoined, you would not take over your previous characters.
-
Fixed a bug where if you joined midgame, the question timer would shake for 3 seconds when asked the next question.
-
Fixed a bug where if you joined a game with more than one player on your machine, the game would spawn a chat per player on your machine, when only one should be required.
Over the next two of weeks we will be improving the experience for Steam Remote Play Together players, with a focus on making Trivia Tricks more accessible for mobile phones.
