Hello Survivors!

More rolling updates for 1.0. This patch I focused on balance changes and adding new content within the game. We're stable enough to do that, but I am taking my time adding new content as I want ensure everything goes smoothly and we're bug free.

In addition to this, I'm also focusing on sorting out gameplay features and items. Stuff like Sickness, which was pretty pointless and there was no way of curing it.

Below is everything that got added in this patch. Enjoy!

Nomad Premium

Skin Variety Pack


The Variety Skin Pack is available. This DLC contains 11 new skins for you to flex with inside of the game. Simply change your skin in the customize tab in the main menu.

Reduced Networking Footprint


I have spent a lot of time revisiting the networking side of Nomad by reducing the total number of bytes being sent over the network by ~90%. Even though I visted this back in 0.9.99.3, the total bytes was still almost 300 per packet in some cases. Not good! With this new change, we are achieving 24 bytes per packet.

This means no more server bottle necks, potential for massive player and zombie counts and increased server performance. Great stuff!

Due to this, the server tick rate has been massively increased to ensure everything is smooth and hit-reg is improved. Butter.

Plant Fibers


Plants have been added throughout the world. Harvest these plants to gather the new resource, Plant Fibers. Plant Fibers can be used to create Cloth, a much needed resource.

Later on, this resource will have more uses.

Iron Helmet & Riot Shield Nerfs


The Iron Helmet and Riot Shield are way too overpowered. They block 100% of the bullets from the back of the player, and from the front of the head of the player.

In this patch and future patches the Iron Helmet will negate 1 bullet and Riot Shield will negate the first 2 bullets from each player, then both will have a cooling off period for 5 minutes.

I want these items to be strong, they are designed to be super offensive and used when raiding or when attacking. However the current way it was balanced, it was too strong. By negating only the first few bullets from each player, it stays strong but also stays in line because each player must hit your item before they can deal damage to you.

Sickness


Sickness didn't really do anything and was pretty useless. This patch has buffed sickness quite a bit and also introduced a new item to cure it, Charcoal Tablets. Sickness now reduces armor by 50% and increases the drain on your food and water values by 5x. It's harsh, don't get sick.

Charcoal Tablets require 2 Charcoal and can be crafted in the player craft menu, under Medical.

Sickness now applies randomly when you are wet. The longer you are outside in the rain, the more chance of getting sick. Other ways of getting sick is by eating dodgy food or drinking dirty water. Don't do any of those things.

Door Security & UI Update


Doors no longer use only digits for the keycodes. From this patch onwards, door keycodes are now alphanumeric, meaning you can use A-Z 0-9 and some special characters * & + etc. Keycodes are still 1-4 characters long.

This will make guessing door keycodes a lot harder.

Storm Scope Updated


Storm iron sights were pretty bad, so I've updated them. Storm and the Legendary Storm both have holo sights attached. The aim of this change is to make the Storm one of the strongest weapons in the game, as it should be but players wasn't really using it as the iron sights were pretty poor.

Shipwreck Update


The map has been updated around the shipwreck. It is now a lootable area with shipping containers. Find all sorts of items here.

Cafe Area Update


The cafe area is now a motel! Expect more loot from this area.

Airfield Update


Just a small update to the airfield. The airfield now have fences around the important parts. Nothing new but makes escaping from here a little harder so expect to fight others!

  • Fixed notification for "Incorrect tool to gather" popping up globally

  • Fixed a bug that made players move when inside of new keycode door UI
  • Fixed a bug that didn't show the antidote item being used when using the item

  • Fixed a bug that caused destroyed sleeping bags that you own not count as your own, giving the player always max sleeping bags even when they have been destroyed
  • Fixed a bug that caused sleeping bags to delete without giving you the item back when you hit max sleeping bags when placing a new sleeping bag

  • Doors can now use alphanumeric keycodes. No longer just digits for added security
  • You can now craft clothes in the crafting menu
  • Items that do not belong in the furnace will now be burnt and turn into Ash

Engine

  • Updated to the latest Unity 2021 version, should see a performance increase


Server

  • Workbenches now have less reason to fail when adding new unauthenticated players to them
  • Connecting to servers will now asynchronously load map data
  • Server should no longer spawn zombies on top of apartment roofs where they get stuck
  • Server is now twice as fast at deleting items on the ground, for when new loot is being spawned
  • Significantly reduced networking footprint by ~90%. 90% less bytes in every packet being sent to and from the server. This is huge for server bottle necks and player counts
  • Due to the massive increase in networking performance, server tick rate has been significantly increased
  • Disabled Nagle's algorithm
  • Anti teleport checks are now better when building new base structures


Visuals

  • Sniper scope touched up
  • New Door Setup UI has been updated
  • Added Imposters and better LOD to fences around the trailer park
  • Airfield area touched up
  • Shipwreck area touched up
  • Cafe area touched up, is now a Motel
  • Updated text when Steam fails to verify on start
  • Added new images to the loading screen
  • Added new tips to the loading screen
  • New Main Menu background and color tint
  • Storm now has a holo scope attached, no more iron sights
  • Legendary Storm now has a holo sight attached, no more iron sights
  • A mic icon now appears above the player that is using voice chat. Only visible within 25 meters.


Balance

  • Chance of getting Bone Fragments from the ground decreased to 20% per hit, down from 25%
  • Canteens now fill with dirty water
  • You now get sick from drinking any type of dirty water
  • Getting sick now reduces your hunger and thirst by 5x, up from 2x
  • Getting sick now reduces your armour by 50%
  • You now have a 8% tick up chance of getting sick whilst staying in the rain (wet)
  • Broken Silver Chain now spawns within the world
  • Broken Gold Chain now spawns within the world
  • Some guns now have different fire sounds
  • Fresh spawn players now start on 50% food and drink
  • Iron Helmet now negates 1 bullet from each player, 5 minutes cooldown to reset
  • Riot Shield now negates 2 bullets from each player, 5 minutes cooldown to reset
  • Riot Shield no longer sells at the trader
  • Iron Helmet no longer sells at the trader
  • Cigar no longer sells at the trader
  • Blood Amulet no longer sells at the trader

  • Decreased the healing bonus of talented bandages to +5hp, down from +15hp
  • Tomahawk speed decreased to 70, down from 80
  • Food and drink above 85% will now heal you for 1hp every 12s, up from every 10s to better sync with the Blood Amulet
  • Weather cycles last for 15 minutes, up from 10 minutes
  • Tomahawks can now be crafted
  • Skipping quests will only work after 10 minutes after being in a server
  • Default aim fov zoom in from weapons slightly decreased
  • All non sniper scope weapons have now decreased fov (better zoom!)
  • Player kills no longer rewards currency
  • Furnace and campfire cooking and smelting time reduced to 5 minutes, down from 6 minutes
  • Booby trapped chests now do 85 damage, up from 65 damage when opening
  • C4 will now only affect the base structure its attached to
  • Removed some xp gain from crafting some items, as this was still in as a mistake


All servers are wiped due to this update. This is to ensure no server data or game data corruption and to reset players so everyone has a fair and equal start
