Hey folks, after working few weeks on the update, v1.3 update is finally here! We have exciting updates in this update!

Firstly, i would like to talk about SFX Quality Update in v1.3

MetaAudio for Half-Life: Restored




In this update, we'd like to introduce MetaAudio. MetaAudio is better replacement for EAX. Big thanks LAGonauta for letting me use MetaAudio in Half-Life: Restored.

MetaAudio basically is a Goldsrc sound plugin enhances in-game sound experience.

MetaAudio gives you:

  • Sound positioning (HTRF)
  • Distance attenuation
  • EFX effects
  • Voice communication


What's the difference than original Goldsrc?

  • FLAC and OGG support
  • Occlusion support like A3D
  • Fade between environmental effects
  • Hardware acceleration (with X-RAM support)
  • Significantly lower audio latency (especially if used with hardware acceleration)
  • "Unlimited" heap size for audio



MetaAudio comes enabled by default in Half-Life Restored. So you don't need to do anything extra. Now let's see what's changed in v1.3 update!

Changelog of v1.3



• Weapons:

- Fixed rapid corpse bug
- Fixed MP5's animations
- Fixed Crowbar double-swing issue
- Sped up Tripmine arming
- Distance for arming Tripmine is now higher
- Sped up Hand Grenade draw animation after throwed
- Restored Gauss's handle
- Fixed Gauss beta fidget animation
- Fixed Shotgun reloading late when changed to another weapon during reload

• NPC's:

- Fixed Einstein's jaw
- Added reload behaviour for Barney
- Improved Hassault and added more
- Scientists now have better textures
- Restored unused Scientist pain sounds
- Added unused Scientist dying sounds


• Gameplay:
- Added MetaAudio to enhance in-game audio quality (Similar to EAX but better!)
- Sometimes player doesn't lose weapons in ambush scene is now fixed
- Ambush cutscene sequence break bug is now fixed
- Added water to Power up (Gearbox touch!)
- Fixed player was getting stuck to the train
- Added Tram Lights


• Misc:

- Added "Enable/Disable Shadows" option in Advanced settings tab
- Improved player model
- Improved few model textures
- Updated Steam Library Capsule & Library Hero images


Known Bugs:


MetaAudio sometimes loops Apache wind sound and Egon firing sound.

Type stopsound to the console if you encounter with this bug
