I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend, its been another busy one here at CSD towers. We've been flat out working away on the latest batch of updates and fixes to Galactic Management and the 0.2.8 update is a big one!
A Galaxy is born...
Today we started the rollout of the new Galaxy implementation to the public & beta branches, this will be the initial base model that I will be improving over the coming patches.

Over the new few releases further improvements will be made to the main map including nebula's & gases along with a few other pieces I'm keeping secret for the moment ;)
If only we had a list of planets....
One of the major items we've been busy working on is the Planetary List, an overview of your planets and how they are performing in general. This will provide a quick and easy go to for sys-admins to check

Here players can quickly scroll through the list of planets to view their status, daily income, trade income and other items such as number of factories/shipyards.
Logistics Improvements - Moving stuff and making money
One of the key features of any space management game is trade and logistics, in Galactic Management that is no different but we wanted to add our own little spin on things.
Logistics (Transport ships) provide two things...
1. Transport Capability
Not every planet has the resources you need for your factories, sometimes those resources are on the edge of your sector or the star next door. You can use the Source planet logistics to send any resources on daily basis to another planet of your choosing. This will help provide your factories with the resources they need to survive.
2. Increase Income
Transports are expensive so we dont want them sat around doing nothing if the empire doesnt need them. All free capacity is automatically used by the population for their own trading needs/requirements and increases your daily income.

In 0.2.8, players will receive 2 x Light Transports, total 1000 units of cargo per planet to get them started and they will really help early game.
Each transfer between planets is limited by the Source Planet Logistics as they are sending it to the destination so dont forget to keep building mines and transports to keep those resources moving.

Minor Updates
So as part of our UI improvement plan to make it easier for players to make informed decisions quickly we have implemented two new buttons on the System Information Screen.
The new "Factory Control" and "Logistics" buttons will display the factories assigned to that Planet only, the same applies for the Logistics, only the currently selected planet information will be displayed.

Decisions
In Galactic Management you will be faced with some tough and not so tough decisions, the latest UI update for this feature has been added with future improvements in mind.
In later updates, should something "go wrong" you will have 5 options to choose from to "shift the blame" onto something or someone else.

This concludes this developer briefing, we hope you all have a great rest of the weekend!
Take care
