Patch 1.0 — Blood Called for Change

It’s time to dive back into hell. This is the biggest update we’ve ever made — a true rebirth for Raining Blood. From fully reworked systems to new bosses, environments, weapons, and an even deeper story, this update takes the war against demons to the next level. Azaus is back. Bloodier, more strategic, and with much more to lose.

The New Rune System

The old upgrade system has been buried. In its place, Runes rise — artifacts that grant devastating abilities, with effects that go far beyond simple stat boosts.

Some Runes alter weapon behavior, firing multiple projectiles or summoning spinning blades and orbiting weapons that protect and slice through enemies. Others grant survival benefits — life regeneration, temporary invulnerability when hit, and even a chance to ignore damage altogether.

There are also those focused on pure destruction: critical damage boosts, instant kill chances, and auto-executions. For efficiency lovers, some Runes expand magazines, save ammo, or instantly reload your equipped weapon.

The most exciting part? Runes interact with each other. When combined correctly, simple bonuses can transform into absurdly powerful effects.

Blood Ritual: New Unlock System

To unlock Runes, you must pay the price: complete a ritual by killing a specific number of enemies. Once completed, you may choose one of three random Rune variations — and that choice will be locked until the end of the current station.

This decision is final. But the right combinations of Rune variants can lead to divine results.

Yes, Runes can still be purchased multiple times... up to a certain limit. The choice is yours — and so is the risk.

Paths of Power

Each Rune belongs to one of the Paths: Focus, Power, Time, Luck, and Balance.

Stacking Runes from the same Path grants passive buffs. For example, having two Luck Runes increases item drop chance by 10%. The more you specialize in a Path, the stronger — and more predictable — it becomes.

New Weapons, Elemental Melee

Weapons have been reinforced — and now melee weapons are blessed (or cursed) with elemental powers. Get ready to slash, burn, freeze, and electrocute your enemies with stylish brutality.

New Interface

The HUD has been redesigned from scratch. Cleaner, more visible, and more functional. You’ll also see a health bar floating above your character, making tense moments more readable.

The Rune and Weapon menus have also been revamped. Navigation is faster, visuals are clearer, and information is easier to access.

Skill Tree: 76 Reasons to Restart

We’ve introduced a full skill tree with 76 unique passive abilities. Now, every choice matters. Each new run defines a unique playstyle. No two matches will ever be the same.

New Environments

This update brings four fully playable new maps — and a fifth one we dare not spoil...

The Void

The player’s new central hub. A safe space between battles to change characters, talk to NPCs, and plan your next move.

The Catacombs

Dark and damp hallways where even the shadows try to kill you.

Hell

Chaotic. Fiery. Home to your worst nightmares.

Stairway to Heaven

Redemption is made of steps. Many of them. None of them merciful.

New Bosses

Each stage now ends with an exclusive — and unforgettable — boss.

  • The Psychopato: a gangster duck guarding Heaven's gate with an egg machine gun.

Gael, the Betrayer: a fallen angel who now hunts exorcists.

  • Hells Bells: demonic bells that guard the catacombs where Lucifer fell.

  • Gorfo: a grotesque demon who throws boulders and screams like the world is ending.

And there's... one more. But you'll have to find out for yourself.

Elemental Damage System

Combat is now deeper with a new interactive elemental damage system.

Some elements work better against certain types of enemies. Water extinguishes fire. Electricity is stronger against wet enemies. Ice freezes, fire burns, blunt damage stuns, cutting causes bleeding... and it all stacks in real time.

Enemies with certain status effects have resistances and vulnerabilities. Using the wrong type might reduce damage. The right one might double it.

This chart shows how damage types interact with enemy types:

Each type of damage inflicts a unique status effect:

Enemies already under a certain effect can still take extra damage or resist further hits. For example: a soaked enemy takes almost no fire damage. But hit them with ice? Massive bonus damage.

Tweaked Spawns and New Enemies

The spawn system has been completely rebalanced. Difficulty now scales with surgical precision, with special waves every multiple of 5 (5, 10, 15…), where elite enemies appear to test all you've learned.

We also added new enemy types:

  • Necromancers

    Skeleton Archers

    Bombers

Each has unique behavior and specific weaknesses.

Safe Zones and NPCs

Between stages, players will now encounter safe zones to breathe, prepare, and interact with the world. For the first time, NPCs will talk to you — including that strange figure who appears every time you die... Who is he?

Steam Achievements

We launched 30 initial achievements, with many more on the way. Get ready to unlock bloody feats — and laugh at your many deaths.

A New Story Begins

Azaus, a member of the Sacred Exorcist Order, is sent to Hell to investigate a demonic invasion that threatens the balance between Heaven and Earth. After falling in battle, he is reborn in the Void and meets Mr. Crowley — a mysterious angel who revives him... but steals his powers. Now, wielding an artifact that absorbs enemy blood and turns it into strength, Azaus embarks on his final mission: uncover the truth behind Hell's collapse... and take revenge.

Update the game. Die. Restart. Evolve.
Hell is new.
So are you.
