Update notes via Steam Community

Chaos Chain

Attention, freelancers!

So, here's the next update. I've gone ahead and updated and further diversified some areas, added new riot police NPCs to some areas, and improved the strain system even further. There was of course polishing and improvements all around as well.

It also includes a common request for people who've purchased the support DLCs - turning the acknowledgement system in game into an array based system instead of a case-by-case system. What this means is now it will be one big message displaying activated support DLCs instead of a bunch of independent messages that took forever to display. So, that's been improved.

As for the new supporter DLC, I'm adding this since I have been trying to accommodate nearly every community request that I have received. I am really trying to make something special, include as much community input as possible, and something that my players (you guys) enjoy. But, this also comes with drawbacks as obviously while I am doing requested overhauls, additions, expansions, and so on, I am pushing back work on my own goals and other stuff that needs to get done on the project. I LOVE including everyone's ideas that I can, but it takes time, so these supporter pack DLCs help me keep the lights on and cover bills and further dev expenses as I continue work. Think of them as a tip for me in sort of a "pay what you want" type setup. I also do this to keep the base game relatively cheap. Those who appreciate my work, time, and commitment can purchase these support DLCs to help me out, and those who don't want to, simply don't have to. It's all purely optional. This is the last supporter pack I'm adding.

Now, let's get to the changelog.

*Please note that these changes are not in any particular order.*

BETA Update 1.74.0 Changelog:

Bug Fixes:
  • FIXED a typo in one of the new dialogues (Added last update)
  • FIXED some text/line spacing in one of the new dialogues (Added last update)
  • FIXED a tileset pathing issue in metro areas

Changes & Additions:
  • Updated the rolling fog graphic to look a little more smooth
  • Optimized some game code
  • Added 2 riot police NPC sprites (Riot helmet, riot shield, telescopic baton)
  • Swapped out some police NPCs with the new riot police
  • Added handling for supporter pack 3 DLC (I'm adding this so that I make sure I can continue working on the game AND working on adding big community requests/overhauls as I have been all along - this helps pay the bills while I do so - think of it as a tip for me - totally optional, but it helps a lot - It'll be released in a few days)
  • Added "Bulwark" new exclusive title (Supporter Pack 3)
  • Converted support DLC activation process into an array based system instead of being on a 1-by-1 basis (It was a common complaint - and one that I myself had - that activating DLC in the beginning of the game was annoying how each DLC would pop up an individual message, so it now just gives one big message listing all activated DLCs and how many total are active)
  • Added a strain image overlay to appear when a strain is suffered
  • Suffering strain now automatically removes a very small amount of mettle (3 points)
  • Added the strain icon to the messages that appear when strain is suffered to make it more obvious what the icon means when it shows up on the character screen in the status list
  • Slightly modified how an encounter plays out in Smugglers' Bend
  • Temporarily disabled a system to account for followers activating certain kinds of events/encounters (This should not even be noticeable, I'm just writing it here for my own notes - the game doesn't really use this system as of right now but it was still active from my last project)
  • Updated some areas and layouts
  • Added more environmental detail to Greywater (The waterfront area specifically felt a little empty)
  • Improved some clarity of some item icon images
  • Minor stat changes to a few enemies (Balancing)
  • Some various minor adjustments and tweaks
