The Gulf Cup has introduced an experimental head-to-head tiebreaker system for the group stage used by the FIFA Club World Cup. When two or more teams are tied on points, their rankings are determined by their head-to-head results.

1. Total points earned in h2h matches.
2. Goal difference in h2h matches.
3. Number of goals scored in h2h matches.

If there are teams that remain tied after applying these criteria, the same criteria are reapplied only to the matches between those level teams. If still unresolved, overall goal difference, goals scored, and then Elo Ratings are used to break the tie.

For example, in the group results below:

Bahrain and Oman are tied on points. Although Bahrain’s overall goal difference (-2) is worse than Oman’s (+2), Bahrain ranks higher because they won the head-to-head match 1-0. This head-to-head result is what breaks the tie.

AFC-OFC Nations League

The AFC+OFC Nations League has expanded to 64 teams, divided into 4 divisions of 16 teams each. A small number of unofficial AFC and OFC members like Northern Mariana Islands will join to complete the lineup.
