Quality of Life and New Player Improvements
SMITE 2 has been upgraded to Unreal Engine 5.5! Various performance improvements have also been made alongside this engine upgrade.
Xbox players: Match Lobby should be much more performant as part of this upgrade
The Play Button and Queue Screen have gotten a visual update
The Queue Screen should be much easier to navigate, and more clearly present the available modes
Hit Markers and Kill Markers have been introduced
Players will now get visual feedback on their reticle whenever they damage or kill an enemy
This can be disabled in Options under Usability > Dynamic Aim Reticle
New Reticle options have been added under the Usability tab
Aim Reticle Color (White, Cyan, Green, Red)
Aim Reticle Thickness
Aim Reticle Visibility (Whether or not your reticle is hidden while targeting an ability)
Gods have been recentered in the Lobby, and should look better
Audio Improvements
Basic attack hit attenuations have been adjusted. You should now hear your own basic attack hits at full volume, even when at max distance.
Audio volume for allies, enemies, and self has been rebalanced. Your own volume should now be the loudest.
Ymir's basic attack hits have received an audio redesign and a volume increase. Let us know your feedback on this as we’re using this as a test for potential basic attack audio pass for all Gods in the future.
Enemies that you are targeting now only have a red outline; previously they were filled with red, which obscured the models
Note that enemies you can see through walls will still be filled in red
Hit Reaction Coloration has been added to the game
Enemies hit by you will now briefly flash white to give better visual feedback as to whether you are hitting an enemy or not
This can be turned off in Settings, under Usability > Enemy Damage Highlight
Friend Login Notifications
You should now be notified when a someone on your SMITE 2 Friends List logs on
Message Steam Friends from Friends List
A new button allows you to easily send a message to a Steam Friend, using the Steam Overlay, from the SMITE 2 Friends List
Party Management in End of Match Lobby
You can now invite players to your Party from the … menu on the Scoreboard
Damage Number Improvements
Placement and visibility have been updated for better gameplay clarity
A new setting to scale the size of floating Damage Numbers (UI > Floating Number Scale) has been added
Two New Bots have been introduced for co-op and AI modes: Medusa & Ganesha
Purchase Buttons have been updated for Skins and Cosmetic content to provide better clarity on what currency is being used, and savings from a full Diamond price
Home Screen Rotators have been improved for better clarity and navigation. New arrows have been added to make it easier to cycle through panels, and the selection pips have been made larger.
Close buttons have been added to the Acquisition Pop-Up and Daily Login Screens
General
Khepri’s Ability Targeters have been upgraded

Nu Wa
Aspect of Shining Mist - Releasing July 8
Mysterious Fog now travels a short distance before stopping but allows you to fire Basic Attacks within it and remain Stealthed. Shining Metal has reduced Scaling while Fire Shards now scales with Basic Attack Power, can Critically Strike, and procs Basic Attack Item Effects. Additionally Strength of Fire also provides Attack Speed.
Game Modes
NEW Quick Play Arena
Quick Play is a new way to play SMITE 2, intended to provide faster, more action-packed matches
This queue will also be an experimental testing ground for bigger changes. Some aspects of Quick Play will evolve over time as we work to find what works best for players, and some things introduced in Quick Play may eventually graduate into other modes.
Initially, Quick Play Arena includes the following:
Roguelike Item Building
Players are presented with a choice between three general playstyles at the start of each match
Then, each time they return to base with enough gold to purchase T3s, they are presented with a choice between three T3s that fit with that playstyle
Note: Players cannot access the Item Shop as they do in a traditional game of SMITE. They also cannot purchase T1 or T2 items.
This is intended to show the fun of building in a more accessible format, helping newer players to start having fun more quickly
Dodge Button
Players may make a quick dodge by pressing Shift on PC, or their Cancel button on Console (while a targeter is not up)
Melee Gods dodge farther than ranged Gods
A short movement speed buff is applied following a Dodge
Note: Players do not have Immunity while Dodging; this is a test of allowing more action and repositioning during fights, in a way that should be easy for players to read
Faster Projectiles
Ranged basic attack projectiles will travel slightly faster in this mode
This is roughly equivalent to the projectile speed increase granted by Griffonwing Earrings in SMITE 1
Faster Pacing
Changes to Gold, XP, and Tickets should lead to approximately 10 minute matches
Action Cam 2.0
A new, alternate camera position and aiming style which should feel much more familiar to fans of third-person shooters
In this camera perspective, your crosshairs are locked to the center of your screen; you will always shoot your basic attacks and abilities where you are looking
This does allow Ranged gods to shoot their basic attacks up or down; allowing this was needed for this camera style to feel natural. Note that Gods are still invulnerable during Leaps, even when using Action Cam 2.0.
Our internal testing shows that players more familiar with third-person shooters are more successful at hitting basic attacks with this style of camera, despite being able to theoretically miss shots by aiming too high or too low.
Note: Though we are listing this alongside the other Quick Play experiments, the new Action Cam can be used in any mode
Currently, there is only a Quick Play Arena queue. Quick Play Joust and Quick Play Conquest will come at a later date
Arena
Siege Minotaurs
Will now spawn for both teams at the same time every 3 minutes (previously one would spawn for the team each time they reached 10 Kills)
