Another update, improving the ship AI and fixing lots of issues. Next: improving the meta game and adding more assignments!
Changes:
- "Mouse rotates" control scheme and ship AI now take rotational TWR(thrust-to-weight) into account, leading to less wobbling.
- AI aiming significantly improved, now takes into account projectile velocity.
- AI may now use boost for traveling further distances.
- AI range calculation (e.g. for firing range) now uses actual distance to closest part, not just target core.
- Ship glow color (trails, weapons etc.) in-mission are now based on the faction of the ship.
- Thruster response times reduced, set to 0 for the smallest thrusters.
- Tuned weapon costs, the blueprints are generally less expensive now.
- Minimap colors now show status relative to player. Green = player, blue = neutral, red = hostile.
- Ship editor color pickers simplified and moved a bit to avoid screen jumping in some cases.
- Added several "Invasions" in sandbox, spawning waves of enemies, just for additional chaos and fun.
- New encounters: Asteroid storms, Independent privateers, Minefield, Reaver trader, Voidbringer Cartel trader, Neutron Forge mining station.
Bugfixes:
- Ship with parts (usually joints) extending out from ship radius when damaged would not be repaired.
- Attempt at fixing AMD/Vulkan timeout issue causing hangs at startup for some users (this is a nasty one).
- Ignore repeat keypresses that may be causing issues on Linux
- Part glow color and turret color were mixed up.
- Exiting to menu before completing tutorial breaks tutorial.
- On-screen input hint text was selectable.
- Unique parts cost metal to place (when they should not).
