I invite you to download and test the new and last version of ☵ HIRAETH Game Steam Playtest version 5.8
According to the announcements, this will probably be the last version of the playtest before the demo is shown, which is planned for the end of July.
With the release of the demo, the playtest will be closed and further testing will take place through internal testing for active testers and project supporters. There are also the last weeks left when you can join the people mentioned in the game.What's new in version 5.8?
In this version I focused on new solutions for crafting and repairing items and on introducing custom settings for player keys.
I have already transferred all the work related to the design to the demo version, where I think you will find many surprises. Although there will also be some limitations, so now is the last time to test everything that is currently available.
Custom player key settings
First version of your own keyboard user settings. Operation is simple - just open the appropriate menu by pressing i key and click on your own settings. You can reset to defaults with the appropriate keys.
In case of problems, you can restore the default settings by force by deleting the EnhancedInputUserSettings.sav file in the save directory. The default file location is
drive:/Users/(your-user-name)/AppData/Local/Hiraeth/Saved
What's new in crafting?
Changes have occurred in both the interface and the blueprints. Many crafts require not only the right materials and tools, but also a bench and having the skills at the required level.
Crafting now supports full drag and drop
In order to craft an item from your blueprints, you need to drag the required materials and tools from your backpack to the appropriate fields. In the case of tools, there are two options - selectable or always required.
In the case of selectables, it is enough to have one of them and select it. Other, better ones can shorten the crafting time, but are not necessary.
New workshops / benches
In addition to the design changes, new types of benches have appeared. On Nasoi Island they are available in various shelters, most in the large base.
Workbench: general crafting and some repairs;
Chemistry bench: crafting requiring chemistry;
Gunsmith bench: weapon repair and, in the future, its modifications and crafting;
Exo Tailoring bench: crafting and repairing some armor elements, in the future also backpacks and separate EVA Suits;
New items and blueprints
New blueprints and items have appeared. For example, spiders can now be poisonous and contain ingredients necessary to create a venom serum. There are also new toolboxes, such as a chemical or sewing one.
Maintenance
In addition to crafting, there is also a MAINTENANCE option for various items, not only for weapons as before.
You can repair all items for which CONDITIONS is visible in the description or icon, as well as all weapons. Some repairs can be done manually, some require access to the appropriate bench and skill.
Access to repairs by right-clicking on the icon, and for weapons after selecting them from the WEAPON tab.
A cleaning option also appears for weapons. If the required repair or cleaning items are missing, in both cases the missing items will appear as inactive icons.
Some other changes
There are also many other changes that I can't list. For example, in the last version, weapons were not visible correctly in the OPERATOR view, now they are.
A few types of new boosters to raise the selected skill
These are single-use implants that raise a selected skill. Can be found in randoms in the world or in chests.
Summary
Apart from custom key settings, which you can simply not use if you have problems, there have been a lot of changes in crafting and item handling. This can cause various minor but annoying errors, easy to fix but not caught. Let's hope that's not the case, in case it does, this won't be the last version of the playtest, although the next one will be limited only to fixes of the current version.
Best regards and see you in the demo soon!
