Patch Notes - Patch 1
Hey everyone! We are excited to share with you our first patch to Wartorn since we launched into Early Access last week! This patch brings new features, balance tweaks, bug fixes, and a ton of polish to enhance your journey through the perilous lands with your caravan.

New Features
Speed Options in Overworld: Added the ability for players to increase the speed of their Caravan when moving through the Overworld. 🏆
Minimum & Maximum Range Indicators: A transparent white circle now appears under units when casting abilities, showing the minimum and maximum range for precise targeting. Perfect for planning your squad's next move!
Offscreen Enemy Indicators: New icons alert you to enemies just out of sight, ensuring you’re never caught off guard in battle. 🏆
Camera Control Options: Customize your experience with new settings for camera shake intensity and a pan speed multiplier for Gamepad/WASD/mouse edge-of-screen panning. 🏆
Balance Changes
Developer Notes: It has been an eye opening first week and it’s been amazing to see the different strategies that have been employed and to hear about what units and family members are standing out. On the whole we are seeing some units stand out as the clear “best” units and players are not exploring some of the other units as a result. The changes below are an attempt to nerf the ones that are head and shoulders better than the others so that more units feel like viable options.
You will also notice that there are a lot more nerfs than buffs in this list. Turns out you all are very good at the game and are, honestly, not failing enough! This is leading to our story not unfolding as quickly as it should and the meta progression doesn’t get to shine because you don’t feel like you need it that much. These changes are all part of trying to get the overworld resources, battle difficulty, and challenge level where we think it will provide the most entertaining Rogue-lite experience. We welcome your feedback after you have had a chance to try out these changes.
In general we are finding healing too powerful and not allowing for the levels of attrition that we want which should encourage players to try more units and bring units in “off the bench” to allow their best units a chance to heal on the journey and keep battles fresher by causing players to try different strategies while their units recover.
Some of the tanks are also underperforming at their role so a few of the tanks have received HP buffs.

Family Member Balance
Developer Notes:
Clucks and Voxyra have proven to be the best of the family members. So much so that players are only taking one route to get to Tabenrahzi. To start to address this and give other family members some room to shine we have removed their starting food and coin bonuses from Voxyra and Clucks, respectively. This change should also bring more value to the Community Tree upgrades since that is the only place to get them now. We also added an interval to how Clucks and Voxyra grant their resources so that there are some gaps in the income and we can essentially give fractions of coin and food per day. This change is particularly important for Voxyra as the previous method did not allow any window for a player to starve.
We also added a level 2 “speed bump” to family Chord Crystal costs to encourage players to spread out their meta progression across more family members instead of rushing to the end- game level stats for a single family member after their first run. Fear not, if you are already past that point you get to keep the discount.
T2 Family Member passive upgrades cost increased: 1 → 3 Chord Crystals
Clucks:
Removed starting coin from family ability
Now grants coins every 5 days: T1=5, T2=10, T3=15, T4=20, T5=25
Nanny Voxyra:
Removed starting food from family ability
Now grants food every 10 days: T1=30, T2=50, T3=75, T4=100, T5=150
Sapinee:
Healing Per Day: 1%/2%/3%/4%/5% → 0.4%/0.8%/1.2%/1.6%/2%
Community Tree:

Heirloom Balance
Everbloom Heirloom: No longer heals enemies
Pecking Stone Heirloom: Fixed upgrade limit beyond level 2
Trinket Balance
Intimidation’s Mask:
T1: 12% → 5%
T2: 14% → 7.5%
T3: 16% → 10%
T4: 18% → 12.5%
T5: 20% → 15%
Difficulty Balance
Developer Notes:
As mentioned earlier, our players are too good at the game! These changes make the average and maximum difficulty harder to provide greater challenge for our stronger players without changing the game for players who are struggling.
Increased target hope lost per battle for dynamic difficulty: 4 → 7
Increased max and average battle difficulty curves
Overworld Balance
Reduced positive hope event chance at crossroads: 7.5% → 3.25%
Increased food event chance at crossroads: 12.5% → 16.75%
Reduced base squad decayed health healing per day: 2% → 1%
Progression
Prevent traveling on already-visited roads or junctions, streamlining your caravan’s journey 🏆

UI Improvements
Added background brush to squad inspector for hero spells and trinket names
Show “No Abilities” in wagon’s squad details
Display hope lost text on defeat screen when losing from hope
Show total hope loss when abandoning squads

Known Issues
We have been continuing to update our Known Issues list in the Official Discord, so please continue to refer to this list and report bugs with us as you see them! Most notably, thanks to community members, we have discovered and addressed an issue that was causing save files to bloat in size and impact performance. This has been resolved in Patch 1. In order for this fix to take affect, players will need to either complete a run or start a new run and get to the fireplace battle. Additionally, we are still working toward fixing the crashes that are affecting players using 50xx series GPUs.
