Hey there,

Here we go with Shards of Her 0.4.6 Genesis update! While most of the features were presented in the last DEVLog, you can check them there, no need to repeat the info. But here's a TL;DR version of the latest DEVLog for you.

New options can be found in the Options -> Accessibility

  • Compact Menu - Just in case you prefer a simpler menu, you can toggle this option to get it.

  • Skip Intro - This skips the entire game intro and sends you straight to the Main Menu.

  • Black & White Filter - I don't know who needs this, but it's something I've always wanted to add.

And, due to the nature of the Interface Language update, several menus were changed and updated to adhere to your selected language. Now, you might find some UI elements that are still in English. This is either because of terms that aren't meant to be translated, like Aethra, Aevia, Lake of Whispers, Echo's Scar, Shard of Gluttony, Genesis Station, and so on. These terms are intended to remain in English.

If they don't fit this pattern, their design will be changed in future updates. Menus like FRAGMENTS were left as they were because that particular menu is going through an overhaul, and there was no point in changing it now, only to change it again in the next update, let's say.

There are also some messages that are still in English, mostly related to the Game Engine. These are tied to the Ren'Py translation system. I haven't touched those yet because I'm still deciding whether to use that system or create my own, so for now, they'll remain as is.

The DLC Menu has now been added. Well, it was always there, but under the name GOD's SUMMIT. As I mentioned early in development, this is endgame content. I also added the new CARDS OF DESTINY, but details for this will be revealed later in its own announcement post. It's still early in development, but the core gameplay is about 90% done and working!

Now, you've seen this screen before, as the UI is now consistent across all menu choices. However, from now on, each menu also comes with a SKIP section, which wasn't always available. So now, if you're not happy with an option, you can skip it and are no longer "forced" to go through it. This feature specifically relates to the NSFW scenes.

You might recognize this screen! Before, it was just an image, but that's no longer the case. Now, it's fully text-based and adheres to your selected Interface Language. I designed it this way to help with future updates, especially once dialogue translation starts to roll out. So, the system is already in place and ready to use!

The MEMORIES Menu has been updated, and a new Memory has been added to it. This new Memory will become available once you've gone through the 0.4.6 Update.

I also wanted to add an option to modify the Main Menu buttons to an NSFW version, but I didn't quite like the result. So, it's postponed for now and will come later.

And, Trading Cards are now available, along with their own Badge, plus Backgrounds and Emoticons! Regarding the Points Shop, there are two items available there for now.

SOH Patch 0.4.6 ChangeLog

  • ACT IV Story Content

  • NEW Options Menu

  • NEW Memory Added

  • Interface Language now available in Spanish, Italian, German, French, Russian, Romanian & Chinese (Simplified)

  • Added CINEMATIC MODE (Toggle from Options -> Display)

  • Added Black & White Filter (Toggle from Options -> Accessibility)

  • Added Compact Menu (Toggle from Options -> Accessibility)

  • UI Remade for Menu Choices In-Game with Skip option

  • UI Remade for Characters, Astrology & Timeline (WIP)

  • Black Screen Texts now adhere (only from 0.4.6 build for now) to Interface Language

  • ACT III Script Fixes

  • Overall Visual Fixes

Now, regarding the next update, it will probably take a bit longer (and just to clarify, this doesn't mean game-breaking issues won't be hotfixed!) due to its content size and the fact that we'll be dropping into ACT V - Tribulation, or at least its start. For now, ACT IV still has its own tales to be revealed. We'll find more in July DEVLog.

I hope you'll like them!
