RELEASE NOTES
New Area and Zone improvements
A whole new pirate themed area to explore, spanning over the entire length of the game.
Added 4 new entrances to be found in existing zones, unlocking further content in the Pirate Cove.
Introduced new haunted ruins to the Forest/Mountain/Jungle.
Shuffled puzzles in the Farm/Forest/Mountain/Jungle.
New flattened farm, replacing the old hilly one, making building and farming much easier.
Two new construction projects in the pirate cove to unlock new outfits.
New Game Modes
Added 3 unique game modes for different player types.
Cozy Mode: A relaxing experience, for islanders who want to enjoy exploring the island without worrying about danger. No enemies in the mines. Enemies outside will not attack you unless provoked. Most enemies and dangers only make you drop items when hit. Temple traps no longer kill you. Prices for upgrading and buying items are decreased. Increased drops.
Adventure Mode: A balanced experience, for explorers who want a moderate challenge in their adventures. Enemies in the mines and outside make you drop some items on hit. Some of the enemies and dangers outside can kill you and some make you restart at a nearby checkpoint.
Hero Mode: An experience for adventurers who are not afraid to face the dangers of the island during their exploration. Enemies in the mines are stronger and will kill you. Loot is lost on death. Loot dropped when hit will disappears after a few seconds. Some resources are harder to obtain, Prices for upgrading and buying items are increased. Crafting times are longer, Archaeology profession is harder (less attempts per temple).
New Minigames
A new minigame requiring players to uncover the buried treasure hidden around the new Zone.
A new minigame requiring players to test their strength against an Arm Wresting Skeleton.
A new minigame requiring players to test their reaction times against sailors singing sea shanties.
A new minigame requiring players to test their accuracy with a axe throwing.
A new dueling minigame requiring players to test their skill with the whip.
A new minigame requiring players to try their luck on a wheel of fortune.
New Quests
New quest tasks that guide players into the new Pirate Cove zone.
A long quest requiring players to find a lost pirate crew throughout the Pirate Cove.
A new Shipwright Profession quest requiring you to help fix a long lost pirate galleon.
A string of new tool quest tasks have been added to help new players keep their tools to a more appropriate level.
The quest to unravel the mystery of Luma Island now includes more quest tasks with waypoint trails to make it easier to complete.
New NPCs
Added a new pirate captain NPC with 2 new quests attached.
Added 8 new Pirate Crew NPCs for players to uncover.
Added a new Shipwright NPC to the town to guide new shipwrights through their professions.
Added 2 new enemy types: a Blunderbuss-wielding ranged skeleton able to cause chaos from afar, and a close quarters skeleton able to slice you up!
Housing
Added a new Pirate themed house for players to unlock and build.
New Lumas and Abilities
Added 3 new cuddly Lumas for you to collect.
Added new Luma ability system giving all Lumas 1 of 5 new unique abilities:
Water Lumas: Can sniff out treasure and will dig up critters!
Earth Lumas: Can sniff out treasure and will harvest extra crops!
Nature Lumas: Can sniff out treasure and will pluck flowers, mushrooms and berries!
Rock Lumas: Can sniff out treasure and will reignite torches!
Lost Lumas: Can sniff out treasure and will attack threats!
Added a new way to create your Lumas.
New Clothing
Added new Explorer outfit for players that played Luma Island (Vanilla) before Luma Island: Pirates came out.
Added 3 new Male outfits players can unlock by completing various tasks in Luma Island: Pirates.
Added 3 new Female outfits players can unlock by completing various tasks in Luma Island: Pirates.
Added 6 new Accessories players can unlock by completing various tasks in Luma Island: Pirates.
New Temple in the Pirate Cove
Added the first "Winged Temple" in the Pirate Cove; a giant meta temple comprising 4 separate wings.
Added a new explosive barrel trap that destroys everything around it when it goes KA-BOOM (including your friends).
Added a new cursed chest that can only be opened once its guardians have been dispatched.
Added a new rolling barrel trap that will smash anything it collides with.
Added 2 new block puzzles to test players' brains.
New Shipwright Profession
Added an 8th profession: the Shipwright. Create boat pieces and fix the long lost pirate galleon in the Pirate Cove for a unique reward.
Added a new Shipwright workstation.
Added a new Shipwright quest unique to the profession
New Emotes
Added 3 new account-wide Emotes to discover. Once unlocked, you can use to them brag to your friends (even if using different save games).
New Map and Quest Log Improvements
Map system overhauled with new features and better maps.
Full screen map added.
New trail system added allowing trails to guide you to quests, points of interest, NPCs and other players.
New marker system allows you to discover new points of interest around the world and mark them for you and your friends.
New multiplayer markers allowing you to pin your friends' locations and see them on the map.
Quests tracked in the quest log will now show how much progress is made in them.
Old maps were updated with better markers and map layouts.
Balancing
Jungle temples were lasting a little bit too long, so we tuned them back.
We re-thought Mega Structure costs, removed the meteorites and other hard-to-get items, significantly reduced the cost, and gave them bonuses for creating.
We changed the cost of tools to provide a more streamlined upgrade experience.
We increased the end game item sell values, and rewards for the final quest tasks in each profession were massively increased.
House costs were significantly reduced and are now found at the start of the zone, allowing better use of the Teleporters inside.
Miscellaneous
Added spooky pirate ship that roams the Pirate Cove at night.
Added mirrors to all buildable houses (Cottage/Villa/Castle/Tavern) allowing players to change clothing etc at any point in the game.
Extra offering crystals can now be used as lights for the Farm. No more clogging up your inventory with old stuff.
All Mega Structures are now usable shops selling different items.
Final Mega Structure can take you to the ???.
Buildable shops on the Farm are now usable, restocking shops. No more running to town for seeds or general goods!
Added new pirate coins that can be used for minigames, items and more.
New payment system for pirate NPCs, allowing players to spend coins on minigames!
New account unlock system for Emotes, Outfits and more.
Added a new multiplayer chest that provides big rewards if multiple people dig it up! (It will only appear in multiplayer games).
Added 4 new Eternal Structures for the truly mad Luma Island fans.
Added 20 new unlockable vanity items in the Pirate Cove allowing you to turn your farm into your very own Pirate Cove.
New Rabbit and Chicken skins added.
New save game upgrade system added, allowing players to transfer certain things from their old Vanilla saves when starting a new game in Luma Island: Pirates.
Added ability to sit on the deck chairs around the world.
Added tents to camps around the world to allow you to sleep without returning to the farm.
Craft benches in camps found around the island are now ready to use from the start; no more running back and forward to build camps.
Added a Watch Tower blueprint allowing players to get better views of their farms.
Added ability to change Game Mode whenever you want via the game settings menu.
Added a new bike blueprint allowing players fast travel to the Town early in the game.
Added a new Anvil blueprint allowing players to upgrade tools at their farm.
Added a new trophy for the Shipwright profession.
Seeds can now be planted in an area in front of the player when keeping the A button / the mouse button pressed (the number of tiles scales with the Hoe level).
Magnetic loot will now stack into 1 neat pile when 10 of the same item are close (This prevents giant farms with thousands of magnetic loot from crashing).
Added 6 unlockable bikes around town when fixing the town for Hugo that allow players to fast travel back to the Farm.
Added new Luma Island: Pirates logo, music, and background to the Main Menu.
Added ability to whip friends.
Achievements
Added 20 new achievements, removed all difficulty-specific achievements.
Localization
Added 5 new Languages: Polish, Arabic, Dutch, Turkish, Latin-American Spanish.
Performance
Changed our lights and shadowing to our own solution that should give more stable performance when many shadows are active (torches in caves, temples).
Added new culling systems for improved performance.
Added new batching systems for improved performance.
Reduced hiccups when players switch levels in multiplayer.
Added a new pathfinding system allowing for smoother movement and better optimized gameplay.
Music
Added many new zone tracks.
Updated old tracks and added new audio to old zones.
Bug fixes
Moved pathfinding and navigable areas to a new system that should be more robust/stable. This should fix a variety of getting stuck issues (e.g. lava platforms, hills on the farm map).
Fixed bug preventing players standing on the moving lava stones in rare circumstances.
Fixed bug preventing players earning achievements when fixing parts of the town.
Fixed bug preventing pigs from producing in rare circumstances.
Fixed bug that caused animals to get stuck in circumstances.
Fixed bug that caused Lumas to ignore Luma Power Food stored in the Feeding Trough.
Added system that prevents magnetic loot from landing on tiles the player cannot access.
Fixed bug preventing a Snail Luma from being hatched if holding a Snail Luma already.
Fertilizer is no longer taken when removing trees in a sprinkler's area of effect.
Extra tablets are no longer awarded to players upon loading a save with more than 10 quest items.
Fixed collision on pet shop after being repaired.
Construction objects can now be removed regardless of their location on the farm.
