A LABOUR OF LOVE
Since 2020, Cross Product Multiplayer has served as a testing ground for experimental mechanics, new sound design, and prototype systems — many of which will make their way into the upcoming singleplayer campaign.
Over time, it evolved into a full overhaul of Half-Life Deathmatch, inspired by the shooters we were playing during its early development. From adaptive gamemodes to voting systems and deep player customization, Cross Product Multiplayer was always about pushing the HLDM formula forward — with open-source tech making that dream possible.
SEASONS OF INNOVATION
Starting in 2021, we introduced a Seasonal update model to help structure content drops and maintain long-term support. It began with Season 6: HECU, setting a yearly gap for updates and giving us room to grow other projects like,
Halo: GoldSource
The Cross Product singleplayer campaign (still in active development)
Since then, we've released:
Season 7: Black Ops (2022)
Season 8: Black Mesa Inbound (2023)
…and now:
🚀 Season 9: White Sands (2024) – Our most refined update yet.
IT'S STEAMPOWERED, IT'S NOW
Projects are never truly finished — they’re abandoned.
To keep Cross Product, ergo The Phoenix Project Software, alive and growing, we need to reach new players and expand our community. Steam gives us the platform to do just that.
This launch marks a major milestone — and Cross Product Multiplayer will be the first of our titles to make that leap.
WE LAUNCH WITH PATCH II (2.9.2)
Alongside the Steam debut, we’re rolling out Patch 2.9.2 (aka Season 9 – Patch II), packed with upgrades and fixes:
Enhanced controller support via Steam Input
CTF fixes and better scoreboard integration
New sounds straight from our WIP singleplayer campaign
Gamemode tweaks, lighting overhauls, and quality-of-life improvements
You can catch a preview of some of these changes on our YouTube channel, where we’ve been showcasing the new controller features and more.
Whether you’re fragging on Crossfire, flying through Bounce, running around Kasino, hiding in Basement, or holding them down in City, we can’t wait to meet you in the servers this summer.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us since 2020 — and to all the new players just discovering Cross Product Multiplayer, welcome.
The future is bright.
