📋 Full Patch Notes

This patch focuses on tightening up some core systems and laying the groundwork for the next major additions. While it's not a massive content drop, it clears out some long-standing annoyances and adds a few new tools for testing what's in place.

🖼️ UI Overhaul

  • The in-game UI has been reorganized for better usability.

  • The Quit button has been moved into the Settings menu, instead of sitting out in the open. This was both for cleaner design and to avoid accidental rage quits.

  • Minor polish to various panels to prep for more incoming settings and options.

🎮 Controls & Commands Panel

  • A new “?” button has been added to the main UI.

  • Clicking it opens a panel with:

    • A quick reference list of game controls.

    • A few built-in console-style commands already usable in the game (with more coming).

    • This will expand over time as new features are added that benefit from testing or command toggling.

🎒 Inventory Bug Fixes

  • Addressed a stacking bug where players could endlessly duplicate items under certain drag/drop conditions.

  • Refactored parts of the inventory backend to better handle slot state updates after dropping or moving stacks.

  • Fixed a few edge cases involving splitting stacks and merging back into full ones.

🗡️ Sword Animation Added

  • Fred now has a basic sword swing animation.

  • There's no combat interaction just yet — this is purely visual for now, to test animation flow and tool switching.

  • Animation direction is based on movement facing (north, south, east, west).

🔜 Coming Next

  • A damage testing zone: A small test room with dummies or targets to try out attacks once they’re wired up.

  • A scene selector, accessible from debug or main UI, to let you jump between:

    • Starting island

    • Inventory test space

    • Combat room

    • Whatever else is ready to preview

  • First enemy types — nothing too deadly, but something to hit that hits back.

As always, this is a work in progress. Art, balance, and layout are all subject to change. If something feels janky, broken, or just annoying — throw it in the Discord.
