Update notes via Steam Community

Hope you're all still here

I apologize on my behalf for abandoning you all, but I was working on V0.2.2 and still am, but I decided to drop a patch for V0.2.1.

I accidentally released out of early access, because I was trying to release the dedicated servers, so now we need to wait a little while, once we are back to early access I will remove this caption, but I added it as important information (let's hope steam actually reverts the release, as VoC is not ready for a full release currently).

This update brings some quality of life changes, fixes exploits and glitches, and a little optimization update. Let's get on and check what is new, changed or removed!

Networking

+ Dedicated server support - you no longer have to worry about players closing their local servers

Workshop

+ Finally works - I don't know what I did, but the workshop broke so I had to fix it If you have made a map in the past, and notice issues with it (such as custom data like weaponry, health or others being the default) then you must update the map and put the values once again

Survival

+ Added the Winchester 1897, Keyboard and Frying Pan to the loot spawn as they were removed, now brought back
+ Attachments now useful - now you can put them on most guns
+ Tougher helicopter - it is not as sensitive, so now if you crash it won't explode most of the time unlike before
+ You can get out of moving cars - it will be harmful, but in V0.2.2, it will be more fun as you turn into an active ragdoll
    - No more "odd" inventory spaces - you remember those weird 2 item slots you would get when picking up a T-Shirt? They're removed, because they were broken, and confusing
    - "Survival Kit"s are no more - they are gone, as they provided unfair advantage and would confuse newbies
    - Storage crates are gone - because of how V0.2.1 is coded, to have storage properly work it would be a waste of time, so for now you can still craft crates, but as decorative purposes

Glitches

+ Fixed Zombie Infection - now playable, zombies have hitboxes and winning is possible
+ Fixed notes, items, clothes and guns in survival - they had a weird hitbox with vehicles if you drove over them causing you to fling
+ Fixed an issue (probably) in survival where if you picked up items after a certain while, it would "corrupt" your inventory, meaning you couldn't die, leave or properly drop stuff
+ Fixed an issue with the Scar-L - equipping it would "corrupt" you
+ Fixed vehicles - the Military JEEP and other vehicles shouldn't flip easily, gears actually work, and the tires don't freakout anymore
+ Fixed damage in vehicles - now if you drive you shouldn't randomly get killed

Weapons

+ Brought back the RPG, Barrett M82 and the RPK - Don't expect them 100% in V0.2.2, this is just an experiment I'm trying out
+ Buffed out the Winchester 1897, little bit more damage and more muzzle velocity

Armour

    - Removed the other exoskeletons, they were just unfair and not fun to play against with, there is only the 'Hand-Made Exoskeleton'
    - Removed the really unbalanced helmets, there is only the 'Starter's Helmet' which has been fixed so now when it breaks, it actually does instead of causing problems

Audio

+ Brought back some old footsteps - they sound better (you can decide which footsteps to use in the settings menu)
+ VOIP modifications - now it is a little higher quality, and a little louder so you can actually hear people

Peformance

+ The main menu and loadout should not lag anymore - prior to this patch, having many clothes would cause the main menu to stutter terribly

Other

+ New store page refresh, with new screenshots and trailer
+ Added crosshairs from the work in progress, V0.2.2
+ Chat is better - messages don't disappear and you can scroll through all the messages
+ Increased FOV slider - in older versions they were high, but a patch got them to be really low, so it has been "finally" reverted
+ The player (when shirtless) shouldn't look as weird anymore
+ The game's icon has been slightly upscaled - it was uploaded at a really small resolution, which has been corrected now
+ Experimental official Linux and MacOS Builds - if you own a steam deck, or use linux, now you can play voc without having to use proton. I'm still testing around, and I don't own any linux machines, so I would love for feedback on this (they both have their own dedicated servers)
    - Unfortunately the German and Croatian language have been removed, they were badly translated or were messed up, if a patch 6 happens then they will be added alongside other languages

Known Issues:

  • Only current known issue is that dedicated servers always have 0 as the player count on the server list, this is an issue from the server's end and will soon be fixed
  • Mistakenly did a "full release", VoC is no where out of early access and was done accidentally due to Steamwork's confusing releasing for dedicated servers, as we were trying to release that instead but released the whole game as a full release.

More information, thoughts and updates on everything regarding VoC:

There probably are some other small changes done, or bugs fixed that I forgot to mention

The update is 1GB because of how VoC is compressed (meaning every new version I do, the files get rebuilt even if there was no change), expect probably some other patches in the future regarding V0.2.1 if I find more problems that can be resolved without rewriting half of the game

If I haven't already uploaded the MacOS, Linux and windows dedicated servers it means they will come out soon, they are still being compiled
as I'm writing and will take some time to be done, they will be released when ready

Performance should remain the same as before, because VoC was coded and made is really inefficient (purpose of V0.2.2 is to fix all of this), so I apologize for performance problems if you run into them (I recommend to restart your client if you experience this)

Yes V0.2.2 Is still in development, it's going well and I will probably launch a closed beta and invite few people into it to get more feedback, if you want to be updated more regarding V0.2.2 and about the probable closed beta, you can do so by joining The Discord Server

That is pretty much it, I'm hoping to see you the end of this year hopefully with the release of V0.2.2 if all things go well!
