Hey all,
It's been a crazy month-and-a-bit since Into the Restless Ruins came out, and we haven't been sat back sipping cocktails in the sun (partly because we're in Scotland, so very little sun)!
No, we've been working hard on this chunky free update for you all, so without further ado... introducing the Ruin Remix!
This has been guided entirely by the player feedback we've received. In particular two things have been very clear: first, you wanted the Maiden's favours to keep being useful later in a run when you already have plenty of cards in your deck; and second you wanted more ruins to conquer!
So we've done those things, alongside a bunch of other balancing changes, some new cards, and a couple of bug fixes.
Full change notes below...
Once again thanks a ton to everyone who has picked up the game, if you haven't as yet had the opportunity please leave us a Steam review as that would help us immensely - the extra visibility it gives us is real, and it really helps new players discover the game!
Cheers,
James, Rachel & Tony.
Into the Restless Ruins - Ruin Remix Update
NEW RUIN REMIX LEVELS UNLOCKED
These levels unlock when the player has reached player level 10 and has completed each corresponding standard ruin. As well as changes to the ruin layout, each remix has a unique starting deck and Charm.
Eorisdale+ - Corrupt Heart Charm
Clava Cairn+ - Bat Totem Charm
Jarlshof+ - Bad Twin Charm
Dunvegan+ - Deadly Nightshade Charm
Craigievar+ - Cracked Headstone Charm
Brodgar+ - Maiden’s Fury Charm
NEW HARVEST MAIDEN & WULVER UPDATES
After a few favours The Maiden will start to offer stat boosts as a choice alongside the other cards. This makes Favours much more useful late in the run than they used to be, as you can keep your deck size small while still getting a benefit from collecting Glimour.
Wulver stocks 5 cards per night
Cards from the Wulver are all slightly cheaper to buy. These two changes make the Wulver much more useful
7 NEW ROOM CARDS
Dice Den (unlocks at Player Level 6) - Allow you to spend Relics to reroll Maiden Favour choices. The Relic cost goes up every reroll, but playing more Dice Dens lowers the cost
Shortcut (PL7) - Refunds the build cost if connected to a fog room
Worm Blood (PL23) - Use: gives invincibility for a short time
Wisp’s Rest (PL12) - Use: uses up some of your torch, but gives a permanent boost to max torch
Builder’s Cache (PL16) - Refunds the build cost if connected to a corridor
Gunpowder Store (PL5) - A room full of exploding barrels, what's not to like?
Fire Pit (PL4) - A fiery version of the Poison Marsh. Cheap to play, and can be good for thinning out hordes that are following you!
2 NEW TRINKETS
Trick Deck (PL16) - On Redraw choose any 2 cards from your Draw or Discard piles to draw immediately
Broken Destiny (PL12) - Gives 3 redraws
2 NEW BOON CARDS
Farsight (PL14) - Reveals 3 fog rooms
Changing Fate (PL22) - Banish 2 cards from the reward pool. Banished cards will not be offered by the Maiden, so you can shape your deck a bit more.
7 NEW CHARMS
Still Stone - Standing still regenerates health
Corrupt Heart - Draw a curse every night. Corruption bar is half size
Bat Totem - Start lighting is smaller but burn rate is also lower
Bad Twin - 50% chance of duplicating played cards, on duplication you get +1 corruption.
Deadly Nightshade - When you’re poisoned you deal 50% extra damage
Cracked Headstone - Lose max health for every graveyard placed, reviving is more expensive
Maiden’s Fury - Every favour accepted also increases corruption by 1
BALANCE CHANGES
Blessed Light BP cost 2 -> 1
Herbal Infusion BP cost 2 -> 1
Beacon Fire BP cost 2 -> 1
Moorland BP cost 1 -> 0
Poisoned Marsh BP cost 1 -> 0
Training Room BP cost 1 -> 2
Healing Ivy heal each use 10% -> 50%
Altar health regeneration 5% -> 10% (Altar+ 10% -> 20%)
Hard Graft is no longer Sealbound
Increased health of most Wardens (sorry not sorry, but genuinely most of the feedback we got was that the Wardens are too easy to kill!)
Increased damage done by Axe, Bombs, Dirk, Firebomb, Runes, and Spear. All weapons should now be more useful and considered upgrades from the base Sword, and side-grades from each other.
Lowered density of the Horde on Brodgar
Increased the timer on high frequency Hordes so they trigger slightly less often
Lowered health and damage of some of the more extreme enemies (yeah ok those Tree Spirits Hordes were A Lot early in a Brodgar run!)
FIXES
Slightly increased contrast on some UI panels
Placing a Hunter's Bothy counts itself in the number of bothies
(Nintendo Switch) Vibration on/off setting now saves correctly
Into the Restless Ruins is available at a 20% discount in the Steam Summer Sale starting at 6pm BST tonight, a discount blessed by the Harvest Maiden herself.
