New Update!

I thought this update would be easier to make, but it turned out to be a tough one!

Designing the tier 3 Infernal Shards fried a lot of my brain cells, but I'm pretty happy with the result. I tried to come up with a system that isn't too harsh, but still provides an extra challenge. If you're into tough challenges, give it a try and let me know what you think! (Shard level 24 is...really hard)

Also, some new Poison towers were added in this update, so now the five elements each have about the same number of towers. As for the Poison-element relics, since they were created early in development, I plan to adjust their effects in the future to better fit the current state of the game.

(I guess some of you are going to ask, so I'll answer now: yes, there will be more towers added in the future!)

After this update, I'll be spending more time on other features like Endless Mode, the achievement system, and a few experimental ideas I'm playing with. I also spent some extra time adding character selection to Misty Graveyard and reworking the leaderboard in this patch to prepare for a new Endless Mode map. (The most annoying thing was dealing with cheaters... if nobody cheated, I could've used that week to make more new towers instead!) I know a lot of you have been waiting for Endless Mode for a long time, and I hope to show you the new stuff soon!

That's it. Hope you all enjoy this update!

New Features

  • Infernal Shards: Level 3 Infernal Shards are now unlocked, allowing you to face the most difficult challenges!

  • Towers: Added three new Poison towers:

    • Slime Tower (1x1) – Fires slimes that continuously bounces forward.

    • Mushroom Tower (2x2) – Throws mushrooms that stick to monsters and continuously emit toxic spores.

    • Cauldron Tower (3x3) – Absorbs nearby defeated monsters to increase the toxicity in the cauldron!

  • Flames: Candle Flame – Ability reworked.
(Originally, Candle Flame was an option for players who wanted a 1 HP challenge. Now that the 1 HP restriction is built into the level 3 Infernal Shard, Candle Flame has been given a new ability.)

  • Endless Mode:

    • Misty Graveyard now has character selection, allowing you to play with any unlocked character (not including special event characters).

    • Each character has its own leaderboard.

    • The leaderboards have been reset due to a data format change, and the new version will also display the player’s relics on the leaderboard.

Game Adjustments

  • Towers:

    • Chomp Tower is now a Poison tower.

  • Blocks:

    • Added more variations of blocks distorted by anomaly effects.

  • Talents:

    • Loot Scavenging no longer counts gold gained from selling towers.

  • Boss Battles:

    • Forest: On difficulties where no Infernal Shard is active, the boss will now also spit fireballs and breathe fire. However, the malfunction duration caused by these attacks is only half as long as it is with an Infernal Shard active, and the attack will not turn blocks into lava blocks.

  • Maps:

    • The Scrap Tower will no longer appear as an option in the Academy stage’s tower selection.

    • Anomaly stages now display an icon indicating the anomaly’s effect.

    • Added 7 new anomaly effects.

  • Menu:

    • Hovering over "Continue" now displays the difficulty and character of the current game in progress.

Balance Changes

  • Towers:

    • Drone Tower: Attack speed increased from 2 to 2.5.

    • Basic Tower: Range increased from 4 to 6.

    • Cannon Tower: Attack damage increase from 5 to 6

    • Laser Tower: Attack speed increased from 1.6 to 2.

    • Decimate Tower: Attack speed increased from 0.25 to 0.3.

    • Frost Ray Tower: The Blue upgrade’s explosion effect damage multiplier reduced from 3× to .

    • Starfall Tower:

      • Meteors' explosion radius reduced from 1.5 to 1.

      • The red upgrade's explosion radius reduced from 3.5 to 2.5.

  • Relics:

    • Static Shocker now has a damage cap of 1000.

    • Unstable Mixture now has a damage cap of 1500.

(Relics that deal percentage-based damage were too strong in Endless Mode, causing the mid-to-late game difficulty curve to ramp up too quickly. Damage caps were added to ensure they don't become the only viable solution in Endless Mode.)
