Hello knights!

We got busy working on some fixes and changes after attending DreamHack Dallas recently. Showing the game at a large expo was exciting, a little crazy, and quite tiring.

Anyways, we found a few issues and changed a couple things based on watching over 100 people play the game in front of our very eyes and talking with them about their thoughts. We also started getting some ideas on the general direction we want to go to get to a 1.0 release, which we’re still having discussions about, but is slowly becoming clearer as time goes on.

Below are the changes we made for this latest update.

Bugs:

  • Fixed issues where playing the Goblin Cave stage would cause a crash if not playing on Easy
  • Fixed first person camera clipping while wearing certain cosmetics
  • Fixed collider in the Castle stage that could push players into the top of the castle
  • Fixed areas that would prevent new enemy spawns in the Castle stage
  • Fixed certain spell sounds being disconnected from the sound mixer
  • Added missing dust particles to kart drifts while in races


Gameplay Changes/Additions

  • Changed all difficulties to 5 minute of play times instead of 5,7, and 9 minutes to make jumping into more challenging runs less painful on players patience
  • With the shortening of overall time, we also decided to have challenges unlock after 30 seconds of starting a stage instead of 1 minute
  • Change color of timer when the stage is coming to an end
  • Added “Laser Attack” indicator for the Dungeon stage boss
  • Added text once challenges were complete (for either successfully completing or failing)
  • Added text after successfully completing a stage
  • Stage exits are more clearly defined with beams of light to prevent players from wandering around after a level unsure of where to go (some of those stage exists were not as noticeable as we thought)
  • Added transparency over time and size scaling to Magic spells to increase visibility
  • Added boost potion to refill boost while in stages much like health potions do for health
  • Adjusted Boost use over time in races not matching use over time in levels
