Hey everyone, I’ve got a new update for you! The highlights are: a new and improved HUD that looks way nicer and gives you a load more useful info, and some changes to the movement that will shake up the game and will probably enable you to beat all the current leaderboard times in the game. Below is a full list of the changes to the game:
General:
Improved performance for Location Unknown levels so they are now pretty inline with the other stages in the game.
Added in level ‘death markers’ that show the positions of some of your latest deaths in the level.
Reduced the number of medals you need to progress past the locks in the campaign.
Created a new player death animation and updated the death effects.
UI:
Repositioned HUD elements.
Created a speedometer so you know how speedy you are.
Improved the look of the enemy takedown HUD element.
Created a medal tick-down HUD element that shows you how long left to get the next possible medal.
Added a new HUD message system that highlights important stuff and some less important stuff too.
Added some level stats to the level complete screen.
Added a note of how many shoeboxes you need to unlock the next virtual level in the level complete screen.
Swapped the continue and main menu buttons around on the level complete screen.
The credits now take you to the level select screen now instead of the main menu.
Improved controller navigation for the level select screen and fixed some associated issues.
When using controller navigation in menus you can now hold down the buttons to quickly move through the menus.
Options:
Added options to disable some of the new UI features (under the accessibility tab).
Added an option to disable the level locks in the level select screen.
Added an option to hide the tutorial components in the game.
Player movement changes:
The goal of these changes is to improve the consistency of some of the moves at higher speeds and to improve the viability of different moves when performed at higher speeds. Ideally this will mean that fast lines now don’t end up being a game of trying to maximise the number of slide hops you do.
Added the speed boost visual effect created in the last patch to: the climb up, dash kick, wall kick, super kick, jump out of the wall run, the start of a wall run and the jump out of a grapple swing.
The climb up now gives you a small 1.075x boost as you exit the move.
Adjusted the conditions for starting a wall run so you will retain more of your speed at higher speeds and steep angles.
Starting a wall run now gives you a small speed boost of 1.05x.
Adjusted the wall kick in 3 ways to improve consistency and power across different speeds: 1. At higher speeds the kick will move you slightly more in the direction you are currently travelling vs the direction the wall is facing. 2. Increased the distance you can kick at a little bit when you are at higher speeds. 3. Made the kick boost you an even 1.135x regardless of the speed you are currently travelling at (this should feel the same as before at lower speeds but much much better at higher speeds).
Bug Fixes:
Fixed a bug where the grapple exit animation wouldn’t properly transition, meaning the hands would try running in the air.
Stopped the lava flashing while playing on an intel graphics card.
Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the levels in Hell P2 to show a flat yellow surface instead of the lava.
Fixed an issue that reverted the simplified lava setting back to the default when moving to a new level or changing the quality setting.
Fixed some bugs with the level lock system in the level select screen.
Various UI fixes.
Fixed some lighting issues on some of the levels.
Fixed buses de-spawning too soon on Hell 13.
Fixed issue that let you restart last second on the takedown levels to get a super low time.
I hope you all have a great time with the new changes and please do let me know if you have any thoughts or opinions on anything that’s changed!
~ Ian
