I'm happy to announce the release of Space Junk Patrol 1.1!
•Fixed: Sometimes the keys on the high score keyboard would get knocked out of place by bad guys that didn’t get cleaned up properly. Funny, but frustrating.
•Fixed: Repairing enough satellites to get an extra life would crash/lock up the game.
•Fixed: The high score list could become corrupted due to various causes.
•Fixed: Rare occurrence where playing through the tutorial and then playing it again would lock up the game.
•Switched all spawned objects over to an instanced shader to lower memory usage and offload render processing from CPU to GPU. (Translation: Now able to have oodles more objects on screen with better textures and still improve frame rate!)
•Switched dull 2D sprite asteroid field background to awesome 3D asteroid field. Made possible due to the above changes.
•New enemy boss: Guided Missiles. Guided missile launches will now spawn in and try to lock onto the player with their radar beams. When they do, they launch missiles that will follow the player until one or the other is destroyed.
(Hint: follow the radar beams to the source and destroy it before the missiles launch.)
•Rebalanced everything! Game should play a bit longer and the difficulty should build a bit slower.
•And finally, I've lowered the playspace requirements to the minimum setting because I was getting reports that people were unable to get the game because their space didn't meet them. I've also added standing as an option.
Please note: this game can certainly be played from just a stationary position, since the action will more or less come to the player, but to get the most from the experience, you will want at least a little room to move around for different vantage points.
Thanks for playing the game, and I hope you enjoy the update.
