It's been a while now since Haunted received an update, but I have been quietly working on this patch in the background for a few weeks now. The update fixes some issues with saving and loading (most notably in the last few levels), but also comes with a significant engine upgrade, going from Godot 4.2.1 to 4.4.1.

The engine upgrade should provide better performance and stability, but was a bit tricky to get working properly and may have introduced some new bugs. That said, I have gone through and fixed all of the new bugs that I could find, but I may still have missed some - so if you do find any new bugs, please report them in the bug reporting forum.

Full Release Notes for v1.0.2

  • Fixed some issues with the saving of certain trigger states. This was most notable in Map 13's "hell circle" room, which could fail to open properly if the game was saved and loaded again before clearing the whole room; however the issue would have affected several other locations, including the final room of Map 12
  • Fixed "ghost" lightning effects appearing when saving and loading in Map 10
  • Upgraded the engine from Godot 4.2.1 to 4.4.1. This upgrade removes the third-party Jolt physics plugin as Jolt is now integrated into Godot

These changes have also been added to the demo, which is at v2.0.2.
