Confronted should now be playable on your Steam Deck! I've aimed for a smooth 30+fps. There's also a new 'Performance mode' in the graphics settings, which can boost your FPS by 30% or more. This is auto-enabled on the Deck. Other noticeable updates include an overall volume increase for the audio mix, an engine upgrade and performance improvements across the board.

General
  • 500MB reduction in size of the game.
  • The text 'Dorinela' has been added to the beginning of some voice lines.
  • All sliders in the menus are now faster with Controller.
  • Updated News on the main menu.
  • Portcullis gates now fall more quickly.
  • Intro logo now 4k.
  • The underlying engine for Confronted has been upgraded from UE5.4 to UE5.5. This may have some minimal performance improvements.

Bug fixes
  • Brightness adjustments in the menu now carry over properly when playing.
  • Chapter 2 & 3 as 'coming soon' now show after finishing Chapter 1.
  • Fixed rare chance of enemies not continuing their chase when seeing the player.
  • Fixed rare chance of enemy getting stuck looking at a hideout.
  • Fixed case of game freezing if near a hideout during a hunt in the crypts.
  • Fixed rare chance of getting a duplicate enemy spawn.

Audio
  • Overall sound mix increased in volume by about 20%.
  • Adjusted some SFX volumes (mostly lowered) for a better overall mix.
  • Updated death SFX.
  • Disabled WMFMedia plugin. Electra is used instead for media playback.

Performance
  • Performance mode is now available in the Graphics settings. This enables FSR for 30%+ fps boosts.
  • Disabled high quality translucent reflections; not worth the performance cost at the moment, minimal affect on visual fidelity.
  • Lumen uses global instead of detailed lighting. No noticeable difference in visual fidelity.
  • Global illumination and reflections use High scalability instead of Epic, with no noticeable difference but better performance.
  • Some environments have been converted to instanced static meshes.
  • Optimised shadows on some lights, translucent effects and materials on meshes.

Steam Deck
  • Now playable on the Steam Deck at a smooth 30fps.
  • Currently cutscenes are played as an image instead of a movie, as I am unable to get videos working on the Deck. Hopefully this can be rectified in the future.
  • Performance mode is automatically enabled for the Deck but can be switched off still in the menu graphic settings.
