First off - wow! Over one hundred reviews. You have no idea how much that helps us and means to me personally. Incredible.

Second - it's about Easter time! That's why we decided to be a bit extra cheeky and name the update “Ascension”. Not only because of the dark humor though. This pretty major patch truly does ascend REVEREND from its original release (previous patches included) to something a bit more polished.

A few minor fixes you’ll barely notice, but also significant quality of life improvements such as not being blinded by taking damage or picking up items (everything will be listed down below).

The biggest inclusion though: ACHIEVEMENTS!! Now, since this is the first time we're using achievements there might be a few hiccups here and there. We're trying to iron all of those out, so if anything happens, like an achievement not registering, something breaking or crashing, etc - please let us know!

Adding cheevos into a finished project was a bit of a hassle and headache, but there shouldn’t be an issue in the future, as long as we include them from the start of development. This is all thanks to Joel Faresjö Melander aka Stringsnapper. The programmer that has to suffer my lack of technical knowledge, but who takes stride in the limitations we’ve been working within, and manages to deliver something truly special.

I can’t thank him enough. Looking forward to showing you all what we got cookin’!

The work on this update means that some other things run the risk of getting delayed. Hopefully though, the work we did on this will prove to make our future work easier.

And while I did consider replacing quite a few voice lines and quips, I decided against it. While it’s a bit cringy, there’s a charm to it, and I know I get frustrated when creators replace original stuff with something ‘new and improved’. Keep the cheese. It's easier to remember how far you've come then. That doesn’t mean I won’t share some of it with you here, if you’re curious:




UPDATES:

  • ported game to latest version of engine
  • lessened effect of damage and pick up flashes
  • minor enemy balancing
  • improved lighting
  • fixed some misaligned textures
  • devotees, bishop’s pet - the sinbeast, and the wailing wall knocks the player back when their attacks hits
  • final boss (the aforementioned wailing wall) arena got a slight redesign
  • new easter egg.
  • nothing big, but dedicated to all of you (can be found in the first level, as can the password for the Secret Extras rar-file that came with the game from the start ;) )
  • slightly increased player movement (barely noticeable, yet makes a difference)
  • and of course: achievements!!
