Hey folks! Phew, it's been a whirlwind launch week. Thank you so much to everyone who has bought the game, left a review, chatted in the forums, joined the Discord, streamed their playthroughs - we've been overwhelmed with the response.

We've been carefully reading through all of the comments and suggestions, and one of the major themes of the feedback we've been receiving is around weapon durability (or lack thereof). Weapon durability is an integral part of the gameplay and any changes we make to this have to be carefully balanced within the world of the game. Currently weapons have a lower durability but they're also easier to find and craft, so when we look to adjust things like durability, we also have to look at all the other areas of the game that this affects.

Currently the design team are looking into weapons and combat as a larger body of holistic work for future updates, but in the meantime we've made a few smaller adjustments to durability which should address some of the feedback so far.

Weapon Durability Changes


This update has:

  • Extended the durability of all weapons.
  • Adjusted the damage and durability tier of the Rake, Spiked Plank, Shovel, Lead Pipe, Crowbar and Pipe Wrench.
  • Reduced the drop rate of weapons in loot, with larger reductions for higher damage and durability weapons.
  • Increased the material and time requirements for crafting weapons.
  • Adjusted grounded executions so they no longer consume durability (except for the Bolt Pistol).

Fixes

  • Fixed a number of issues with zombie behavior in 9th Precinct Station, 22 Springwood Drive, 319 Schrader St, Fire Station No.8, Fire Station No.13, Galaxy Zone Arcade, Griffith & Sons Hardware, Harshaw Presbyterian, Millwood Manor, Old Ballard, St Bernadette Hospital, Texway Gas Hart St and Value Records. Zombies should no longer patrol in the background, crawl out from places they shouldn't or get stuck just standing there, among other generally weird behaviors.
  • Fixed an issue where locations could repopulate with zombies after being cleared.
  • Fixed an issue where zombies don't populate at some locations if you move shelters without using a Vantage Point.
  • Fixed an issue where a zombie runs into a fence in Container Yard #3. Also fixed an issue where a zombie could not hear survivors through one of the doors in Container Yard #3. They're concentrating now.
  • Fixed an issue where there was a patrolling zombie in the background of the Walton Taxi Depot.
  • Fixed an issue where killing zombies in front of the saloon doors in Thirty Ought Six Bar could eventually block survivors from entering those doors.
  • Fixed an issue where survivors couldn't get out of bed in the Fitzgerald House. Up and at 'em.
  • Fixed an issue where survivors could get stuck on the top of the stairs when moving into the Fitzgerald House.
  • Fixed an issue where if survivors visited St Bernadette Hospital before beginning the hospital objective in the Airlift Escape Plan, it could cause them to not be able to progress the plan.
  • Fixed an issue where survivors could fall out of the world on the right side of St Bernadette Hospital. Also fixed some pathfinding issues in this location.
  • Fixed some issues in Hackett Construction Inc. including an issue where survivors could get stuck on a ledge.
  • Fixed an issue where the zombies in Pogo’s Greenhaven didn't scale with difficulty. Also fixed some smaller pathfinding and zombie spawning issues.
  • Fixed an issue with the hydraulic lift in Lester Barr Automotive, which wasn't sticking to its previous setting when survivors revisited the stage, causing weird issues. This has also been improved to make crushing zombies happen more consistently. Nice.
  • Fixed an issue with the portable beds in Aunty Mae's Truck Stop Diner intersecting the wall. We honor physics in this house.
  • Fixed an issue where human enemies were doing more damage than intended. They're strong but they're not THAT strong.
  • Fixed scissor damage as it didn't always damage threats when it looked like it should.
  • Fixed an issue where survivors would climb down ledges even if players were holding "up" on their controls.
  • Fixed an issue that was slowing down shader loading.
  • FIxed an issue with the readability of the "All threats cleared" message in languages where it was a longer sentence.
  • General fixes and improvements.


Potential Fixes

  • Potential fix for the "whiteout" issue that we have seen on certain graphics cards. Keep us updated on this one.


Adjustments

  • Adjusted the position of the Kinski Foundation Gallery and Ashby Hoarder’s House on the map. This makes traversing the length of the map easier.
  • Added Vantage Points to Aunty Mae's Truck Stop Diner and Thirty Ought Six Bar.
  • Relocated the Vantage Point in Wash and Dry Laundromat.
  • Adjusted the resource pips in the location description on the map. The pips won't disappear anymore when all the loot is taken from that location. Instead, it will show the empty pips.
  • Adjusted the description for Unidentified Pills so it no longer references a bottle.
  • Reduced Leo's breathing sound effects. (He's an athlete, after all.)
  • Reduced the noise of stealth executions. These now make half the noise they did before.
  • The Network bad ending now mutes other sounds.
  • Consuming each of these items now plays a cool unique sound: Alcohol, Bandage, Beer, Can Of Dog Food, Casserole, Chilli Con Carne, Coffee, Crude Moonshine, Goulash, Healing Kit, Junk Food, Meat, Meat Stew, Medicine, Meat Slop, Vege Slop, Splint, Unidentified Pills, Vege Soup, and Vegetables.
  • Reduced the additional damage received while a survivor has Bruised Ribs.
  • Flesh Wound is now less likely to happen.
  • Aligned the State icons to the bottom of the stamina bar while out scavenging.
  • Localized Paused text in the pause screen.
  • Removed extra glyph from Report a Bug screen.
  • Optimization pass on Old Ballard.
