Following your bug reports and feedback we have implemented the following changes:
Display Settings Fixes
We have overhauled the system for managing display settings to address cases that were not fixed by the previous patch. The changes include:- When you change the resolution, display or window mode and select Apply in the Settings menu, the game now saves your changes without re-applying them.
- When you make changes in the Settings menu and select Revert, the game applies your previously saved display settings and refreshes the settings text once the changes have finished applying.
- When you select Defaults from the Settings menu, the game returns to your main display (the first one in the Display list) and uses that display's native resolution in Borderless window mode. If the native resolution is reported as portrait, the game translates it to landscape.
Known Issues and Limitations
- The UI is designed for a minimum aspect ratio of 16:10 (commonly used on laptops and handhelds), so we don't recommend using any narrower resolutions. The 4:3 and 5:4 resolutions are automatically filtered out.
- Portrait displays such as vertical monitors are not supported, so the game may behave unexpectedly if you try to move the game window to them.
- When setting the Window Mode to Fullscreen and using a resolution other than the display's native resolution, the game may not display correctly. If you need to use a non-native resolution, we recommend using Borderless window mode.
- You may see unusual resolutions in the list which are larger than your display's native resolution (e.g. some 1440p monitors may also list 4K as an option). This is normal as the game reads from the same list of resolutions available in Windows Display Settings, even if they cannot be applied.
Please Note
If the game launches in an incorrect resolution or does not let you select a playable resolution after installing this patch, please follow these troubleshooting guidelines:
Reset Settings to Defaults
The game may be trying to load an invalid resolution that was saved in a previous patch, so please try reverting your settings to defaults. If you cannot do this in-game, follow these steps:
- Close the game.
- Delete your Settings.ini file which can be found in this folder: %USERNAME%/AppData/LocalLow/MilkyTea/Grit and Valor
- Launch the game again.
Report a Bug
If you have tried the above and the game still does not display correctly, please follow these steps to send us more information so we can debug the issue:
- In your Steam Library, right-click the game and select Properties, then go to the Betas tab and enter the password fixthescreens.
- Opt into the mt_debug_display branch which should appear.
- Download and install the beta update.
- Launch the game.
- Open the Display Debugger menu from the top of the screen. This menu is centered horizontally so it should be accessible even if the game launches in a narrow resolution.
- Take a screenshot of the game while the Display Debugger menu is open (press F12 to capture via Steam).
- Upload your screenshot and send it to us either in this Steam discussion or in the bug-reports channel on the Grit and Valor Discord.
Other Fixes
- Fixed Bomber Plane not appearing in the Advanced Combat levels in New Germany.
- Fixed dead units causing navigation issues and units to spin on the spot.
- Fixed tile issues in Western Europe levels in which inaccessible tiles were selectable, causing mech pathing issues.
Thanks for your patience while we have dealt with these bug reports. We appreciate all the feedback and will continue investigating any future reports. You can share your experiences here on Steam or via the official Discord.
