Thanks to the feedback from players, we made a large number of improvements to the game. More details on why in the community post in the main Cursed Companions store page.

Major updates:

  • New look for the Companions
  • Monsters don't spawn when portal opens, instead their spawn is delayed at random (meaning players can encounter them when they head back home)
  • Improved the user interface. More help and instructions to guide new players.
  • Players can host public game sessions
  • Random spawn points for portal (closer in to the castle in early stages) and for dark shrine
  • Added a new wing to the Island (for players to test magic spells and figure out the traps)
  • Added Push To Talk (other players can't hear you but curse words, monsters still trigger)
  • Increased inventory slot by 1
  • Added Monster Guidebook

    Other improvements:

  • Moved the Recycler to the new wing of the Island
  • Added 8 new gestures: thumbs down, thumbs up, etc
  • Added new dance moves
  • Host can kick players in public games
  • Mists and fog now in mustard yellow, green, light blue
  • Added noise cancellation threshold slider
  • Added fireworks when the game is successfully completed
  • Reduced Death Curse damage to 10
  • Improved pick up distance for objects
  • Added some furniture players can move around
  • Increased door opening UI trigger distance
  • Added beacons which can be triggered with magic words, to guide your way to the main entrance and side entrance
  • Added spike traps and poison traps
  • Added ability to restart the game at the Game Over screen with the same players
  • Added a notification when the warning bell tolls (when there are 3 mins left till the Day ends)
  • Made more items available at the Shop at the start
  • Removed the intro video
  • Notification shown to the person who killed team mate with the cursed word
  • Showing ping value for debugging
  • Brightness bar reduced to 0.4 from 1.0
  • improvements made to animation and other cosmetic improvements
  • Changes made to the Mandrake's behaviour (smaller listening range, less easy to trigger)
  • Removed magic spell phrases too hard to trigger
  • Removed cursed words which were mistakenly triggered
  • Improve the activation circle for the traps (previously if two or more players are standing on the trap, it does not activate well)
  • Added a healing wand
  • Improvements to the magic words rotation syncing for Teleport Stone and Portal Clock
  • [*]More monsters spawn in the forest (as the portals are now closer to the castle)
