Hello castaways. Pleased to announce that we have finally tackled our first major round of optimization. This will open doors for having a larger game bounds with more islands.

Full changelog

New
  • Added extension belt blueprint, giving two additional equipment slots.
  • Added arachnophobia. When toggled on, spiders will be replaced by harmless fireflies.
  • Added granite hatchet.
  • Added national flags (changes with selected language), pirate flags and an easter egg flag.
  • Added smoker and smokehouse blueprints.
  • Added a 4th small island.
  • Added fishing rod.


Bug fixes
  • Fixed sticky notes sometimes not visible.
  • Fixed animal not fleeing/attacking when hit by long distance or unreachable areas.
  • Fixed text on discoveries not rendering correctly.
  • Fixed wrong icon when pickup up a crab arm.
  • Fixed loud compost fly sound effect.
  • Fixed scarecrows not being able to be destroyed.
  • Fixed Traditional Chinese not showing all characters.
  • Fixed raft sail rendering incorrectly when in lower position.


Quality of life
  • Fertilizer shows the amount of scoops left.
  • You can rise to surface when underwater by holding space.
  • Unread discovery notification bubble is red.
  • Shark gives more meat.
  • Raw potato has a low chance of giving diarrhea. You can now cook it for it to be fully safe.
  • Renamed blueprint traps.
  • Reduced amount of ashore bug repellents.
  • Improved granite equipment materials.
  • Resolution can be changed on windowed mode.
  • Wood raft base gets wet.
  • Major round of optimization. CPU consumption got halved. Depending on your setup, you may or may not notice a big difference. A second round is coming soon, which will allow us to squeeze in the additional islands (6-12 in total, depending on the outcome).
  • Fixed hand stuck if you carry a log with a torch equipped, then go underwater and drop the log.
  • Updated sofa wreck mesh.
  • You start with a juice carton instead of a water bottle.


Notes
New resources are available on new games. Your save will save the state of the game as it is. For example, the vegetation is only procedurally generated once. This means flags and new islands won't be available on old saves. We could potentially overcome this by adding a version label on new assets. This way if your game was loaded from an old save, our system will know if it should include or not.

We will have another patch this weekend with hopefully a more polished and smooth experience. This means no placeholder UI and fully localized texts. If you want to volunteer as proof reader or help with translations, please contact a developer on our Discord.
