Hi, everyone. Welcome to another week's developer's diary.
First, regarding the main story's progress, the preparation for Jiru Island is almost done. As mentioned in last week's developer's diary. The Red Dragons will appear in this area. Last week, I showed you the graphics assets for their commissar. Now, here are some images of their common soldiers.
I took some reference from Fallout 3's Anchorage DLC. So, you may find some similarities between the PLA soldiers in our game and the ones in Fallout 3. They may be friends or foes depending on your choices just like how you chose your allies in previous chapters. You can also use their appearance for your main character or customized teammates if you want.
It's likely the first area in Jiru will open its public access sometime next week unless Microsoft's bluescreen of death suddenly wants to have some fun. (Good news, so far, I am not affected.)
The second major update is the Marinas Lighthouse. You can now find out what happened here. After the only survivor in this location realizes you are carrying the same curse as his, he will let you in. It's a curse of knowing something normal people blessed with ignorance are not supposed to know.
Of course, the Foundation will not allow such knowledge to spread like a disease and get more people exposed. They tried to do something but, it didn't end well. It's all about UPEX0000.
The rest parts of this week's updates are just some seemingly small and insignificant content spreading all across the world. (But who knows if there will be any chain effects in the future triggered by such tiny little seeds planned at this moment in time.)
Those updates are:
1, Deers now appear in the old town of Liu.
Thanks to someone who keeps bombing me with that シカ色デイズ song. :D
Fun fact: There were indeed some deers that once existed in the real-life counterpart of this old town. I saw them about 30 years ago in that park. Now that area which was once a park, is full of commercial establishments and little green remains. I think that's a common fate to many once-rural areas around Shanghai. A pity that kids nowadays may never have a chance to see what that once was. Oh, well, at least it exists in our timeless game. :D
2, Egypt now has a new area that connects the Long-Forgotten Mountain Path and the Bank of the Nile.
That means you can go directly to the Nile without even entering the city, allowing the area around the Nile to become more accessible to people who want to catch some crocodile pets or just see sharks eating some unfortunately tourists.
3, More random pet perks.
There are a total of four new random pet perks that may appear on any pets that join your group for the first time. That shall bring further diversity to your pet collection and allow you to have more ways to solve problems with their unique talents.
That's for this week.
And a bit teaser for the game's DLC-in-development.
Although we will have a lot of guns, you don't need them. You can absolutely go melee.
