Bosses in Don't Die, Collect Loot are mainly obstacles right now. It doesn't feel rewarding to kill them outside of obtaining boss keys on Nightmare, and I don't like that! I have a slew of reward changes coming to help with this, and wanted to push a preview of the first one to the playtest today.
Now when you kill the Warden and the Treant, they'll drop a special boss chest instead of a regular chest. This chest is full of normal items, like usual, but with one twist: Each of these items will have a special boss-only modifier exclusive to that boss!
There are currently 3 modifiers, two that drop from the Treant and one from the Warden, that are enabled. Baba Yaga and the secret boss don't have anything just yet.
More changes of this nature are on the way!
Balance
- The explosions created by the Arcanist's Fireball skill now scale with Fireball area of effect, and all global sources of area of effect. Prior to this the explosions felt largely useless, and this brings them more in line with the other skills. It also means Great Ball of Fire isn't a weak upgrade now, since the explosions double in size too!
- Increased the Water and Fire Attunement uber buff scaling skills substantially. These should now be worth picking, hopefully!
- Bosses on Inferno and Nightmare now have 30% increased Life scaling. This does not mean they have 30% more Life, it tends to mean they have a lot more, especially as you approach monster level 100+. This does not impact early game content at all, so don't worry if you're just starting out!
- Bosses now have Nightmare-specific variants. They tend to have higher damage, attack faster, and more scaling. Have fun with that!
Graphics
- Updated the projectile effects for Bees and the Warden's crystals. There were way too many projectiles that looked exactly the same, which hampered visibility in chaotic scenes
Fixes
- The Arcanist's shaders now work properly. She actually graphically displays being chilled, ignited, etc!
- Fixed the Thunderstorm's lightning strikes not doing any damage
- Fixed Chilled Ground not actually applying chill
- Fixed a major memory leak caused by Chilled Ground
- Fixed the Damage Lord passive adding .15% final damage instead of 15% final damage
- Fixed a bug where Baba Yaga would not spawn on Nightmare
- Fixed a bug where Baba Yaga was using Gemini's (an unreleased boss) stat data instead of her own
- Fixed a bug where Ignite Effectiveness was slightly less effective than it should be
