Turrets

For some time, you have requested to add more ways to defend your shop or home. We agree this is an excellent addition to Saleblazers, so we're excited to introduce automatic turrets in this patch!
There are 16 new turrets to research and craft, starting with the meager rock thrower and working up to electric-powered M4 and AWP turrets.
  • Mk. I turrets are coal-powered and feature some early-game ranged weapons.
  • Mk. II turrets need to be hooked up to a generator and boast more firepower.
  • Mk. III turrets require even more electricity but feature the highest-tier firepower in the game.

After researching the turrets, you can craft them at the weapon forge. We can't wait to see your turret defense set-ups in the Community Hub screenshots or on our Discord channel!

Defensive Spikes

We're also introducing Bamboo, Wood, and Carbon Iron spike traps to the research tree to supplement your turret defenses. These spikes can be crafted in the Sawmill and placed around your shop. Enemies will try to run through them but will be forced to slow to walking speed and take damage over time while they do.

The spikes' damage increases as you use better materials to craft them, and the Carbon Iron spike traps can withstand significant damage before breaking.

Nighttime Attacks

We've added some new nighttime attack mechanics in the Under Attack update. Once the sun goes down, there is a chance for Ghouls to spawn around your location and attack you. These attacks can occur while exploring or in the shop plot, so consider making your way to a defensible location once it starts getting dark. Your new turrets and spike traps should help you keep your shop safe and running overnight, but you can always sleep through the night to avoid the bulk of these attacks.

We plan on adding more depth to the system for attacking shop plots, including more ways to counter these attacks, so we look forward to hearing your feedback on this mechanic. We've been having a good time setting up turret kill zones at our shops for these enemies, so we hope you also find they make the nighttime gameplay more exciting.

Peaceful Night Setting

We know that some players aren't fans of being attacked at the shop and would prefer to continue shopkeeping in peace, so we have added a Peaceful Night lobby configuration setting that will allow you to turn off these new attacks, as well as the existing Watcher Ghoul spawns around the shop plots. Regular enemies can still chase you to the shop, but we hope this will also be a good first step towards accommodating more peaceful gameplay.

Clothing Dye Station

We heard you wanted some more control over the color of your clothing and general appearance. The first step toward that goal is the Clothing Dye Station. With this workbench, you can input a piece of clothing and some clothing dye and select which colorway you want to apply to that item. After researching the dye station, you can craft clothing dye in your crafting table using coffee beans, plant fiber, seaweed, coal, or ink.

Steam Spring Sale and Pre-Sale Early Supporter Bonuses

We're working on getting Saleblazers out to as many people as possible to get more shops up and running, more worlds to invade, more friends to build the North Star with, and more resources to continue developing toward our 1.0 release.

To reach more players, we're excited to announce we will be participating in the Steam Spring sale later this week!

However, we want to ensure that all of our players who have already supported us get a proper thank you, as we couldn't be where we are today without you. So, anyone who purchased or activated the game before 03/14/2024 will unlock some exclusive items.
  • Gold Nameplate and Airstrafer Insignia
  • Gold Airstrafer Jacket Colorway
  • Black and Gold Airstrafer Apron Colorway
  • Supporter Medallion
  • Black and Gold Airstrafer Wallpaper

This is the perfect opportunity to try out the new Clothing Dye Bench. Your exclusive colorways will be available when you dye an apron or any of the Airstrafer jackets.

You can swap between the gold nameplate and the normal white one from the ESC menu using these arrows.

The Traveler will also have a special message from us to you, so head over to Invasion Island and chat with him when you can.

The rewards and the Traveler's message can be claimed at any time if your purchase or activation date meets the requirements, so there is no rush to claim it.
We are hoping to do more time-gated colorways and nameplates like this for other big moments like our 1.0 release and potentially as achievement unlocks, so let us know what you think of them.

Hold to Pick Up Containers and Large Items

By popular demand, you now have to hold down the pickup button for containers and large items so that you don't accidentally pick them up and spill their contents everywhere.

Items will still spill out when picked up. This change only makes accidental pickups less common. It's also a much-needed balance change to prevent spam throwing large items to ragdoll people.

Thank you to everyone who has brought up this suggestion and been part of discussions surrounding it.

New Quarry Quest

You can now find a small camp of refugees south of the quarry. Talk to them to start a new quest in the area where you can free some Ronin captives from the mines.

The reward for this quest isthe new first NPC Summon item since the License to Sell update introduced the summon walkie-talkies. We think it's pretty fun and look forward to seeing you try it out.

As a part of implementing this quest, we also optimized the quarry and redid some of the paths and ziplines to make it more fun to traverse.

We believe this quest fills out this part of the world more and adds some goals for the quarry area, which was previously more of a sandbox dungeon zone. We hope you enjoy it!

Boiling Cups and Bowls of Water

As another survival tool to handle dehydration, you can now use your campfire or stove to boil dirty or salt water collected in cups or bowls to make it safe to drink.

Experimental Outpost Clearing and Raid System

We're working on a new feature to make outposts more fun to find, explore, and clear out. Outposts will have a name, and the faction that owns them will be displayed when you enter. A cleared percentage bar will display your progress as you fight the enemies inside. An additional reward will spawn once you defeat all the enemies in an outpost. Currently, this reward will be a chest of items based on the outpost. Once cleared, the Outpost UI will display the time until the outpost resets and can be cleared again.
Every time you clear an outpost, you risk triggering a retaliation attack from the faction that owns it.

We think this clarity and additional rewards make outposts more fun to discover and make farming outpost loot clearer and more rewarding.

So far, we have only made this experimental feature live on a few outposts for you to try out. You can try this mechanic at the following outposts near the starting area:
  • Ruins Overlook Outpost
  • Skull Coast Forward Outpost
  • Skull Camp Major Outpost
