Hey folks!

This patch improves shadow filtering and optimizes GPU utilization - an improvement of up to 15%, depending on the system, can be observed. This patch is primarily intended for people with low-end machines struggling to run the game, however everyone benefits due to the nature of these improvements.

Visuals & optimizations

  • reduced GPU load by up to 15%, your mileage may vary depending on the graphics card your system has (technical: main framebuffer format switched from RGBA16F to RG11B10F, using R8 format buffer as alpha channel for the main framebuffer to compensate the lack of an alpha channel in the rendering pipeline where it needed access to a 4th color channel - 40 bits per pixel in total, instead of 64)
  • improved image contrast
  • improved shadow penumbra simulation in shadow filtering - all quality settings past "Rough" now provide greater quality, while using slightly less GPU power
  • fixed the brightness slider not influencing the brightness of roof tiles
