Today is our 111th birthday, and a giant update! The game will start giving out Steam cards for You :) Everything I write here you can also listen to in the video.
1. What is Raubritter now
Raubritter is an RPG-Citybuilder. The game will have 3 heroes. Two you will have available right now.
- The first Hero is, of course, you and your character.
- The second Hero is your city and your subjects.
- And the third Hero, which will come later, is your army and kingdom.
Players often describe games using other games to do this. So the plan is for a good old Stronghold to meet Skyrim and have a cup of coffee together with Mount&blade. All this from first and third person.
The game has been planned so that you can have the full experience of a feudal lord who is doing well. You start as a village headman who can barely feed his subjects, and you can go up even to become a Prince who has a vast domain.
- The first stage is survival - city builder
- The second stage is gameplay on the world map (available from December 15)
- And in between you will be able to enjoy the storyline (available from December 2024)
1. The price will raise
Thank you very much for trusting us, thank you that you believed in our project from the beginning.
I am very happy that I can remember so many of you from the very beginning.
We already have as many players as we assumed for the entire early access. Therefore, the price wanders to the final price. After the current promotion ends. Thank you for your support.
2. What are we focusing on now
The current stage of the game is fully focused on making the economic system as enjoyable for you as possible. And to make it easier to manage your domains. You have nobility ranks available, which unlock new buildings and new production opportunities for you.
While you "investigate" whether you are sure everything is satisfactory and report to us when you are possibly bored. We will prepare a new combat system and combat missions for you.
There will also be a surprise update – somewhere in between. Probably next month.
3. When will the third person finally arrive?
The third person will come with the next update, which is December 15, 2023. Now it would not make sense because we plan to replace the entire animation system.
4. In co-op am I still tethered with the host?
In co-op you can freely run all over the map without worrying about where the host is. However, I point out that the game is a co-op. Not PVP, not MMO. CO-op means that you have common colors, common village and common resources. That's how it was planned and that's how it will stay. Maybe Raubritter 2 will also give a PVP option, but it is not planned at this point.
5. Will there be more wipes?
We won't be forcing any more wipes, but it's possible that in order to get access to all the new features from future updates, you may have to start over. But I promise the starting over will be fun.
Anyway, we will make the current version available in the beta-branch. So, if you don't like updates. Just switch to the beta-branch and you will be 100% safe. Especially that we are still noobs and the early access god may punish us.
The Feudal Lord update - let's get a little nerdy
In this update, we have focused on grasping the experience of being a Feudal Lord in medieval Europe. And that contains some fascinating areas. First building up your village. What was a fun fact to discover was, that most knights were pennyless, and they armor and sword were often the only assets they had.
But we wanted to show the way from a poor sort of solider to the top of the feudal ladder, Which did not happen really often, but there were cases of some great from zero to hero carriers in the medieval ages.
So not counting some firstborns of noble families, they had to earn everything themselves as mercenaries or when they were more lucky as hard workers on their tiny piece of land.
The theme of building a village contains some interesting parts as well. Where from should I get new peasants. In the period the game takes place it was pretty easy because it is right before the black death period, so there was a lot of people in Europe.
But you had to care about them, because they would run away from bad masters, under the care of big so-called free cities, that started to develop very fast in this time.
There was even a saying that "City air makes free."
So building your village, recruiting, and carrying about your villagers. But villagers are the easy part – what about craftsman? Skilled blacksmiths, carpenters, builders etc. That was a thought theme, which a knight had to solve as well.
There is of course the matter of social rank, of responsibilities connected to it, taxes – providing an army for your liege. I don't want to spoiler too much, but we made sure that takes place in the game right now and will be developed further. Of course, somewhere in the corner, dangers are lurking. Raubritters, pagans, mongol raids, foreign raids or just aggressive neighbors.
A little more about what is new
First, we decided to Focus on the theme of becoming a feudal Lord and a Knight.
So social ranks, building up your small medieval city, castle and army are all connected now.
As you know, the story will come in at the end, but we have already added at least a nice prologue. Explaining, why, as a knight you are tossed into the middle of the forest.
Some quests helping you to grasp the story of the world you are in. Which is medieval Poland, Silesia, under the rule of the Czech king Wenceslas the second, are coming as a surprise about around next month.
I don’t want to make any spoilers, but the story will spin around the thread of two big political camps that crushed in middle Europe in that time, and it is the Czech Premyslid dynasty and the Pope with many dynasties around him that did not like the fact of the Premyslid being so powerful.
How a lonely knight was caught in such a big chess game? Well, you will have to discover yourself on our premiere after the early access.
Back to the game
So your new Land that you will receive from Hamish is the center point of the game. This is the place where you build, hire new peasants, build up your army, trade with the world and decide when to move out for the quests of the main story and other fun activities.
Of course, there is a road on which you can meet the caravans.
So I have reveled the next fact. Which is a new map
I have made the graphics and color pallet more realistic. Made sure that the map fits into the gameplay needs. Made place for some adventures in it. But its main reason is for you to build your city on it.
The game will contain a lot of smaller maps for the story and quests to take part in it. We decided for the smaller maps because of 2 reasons.
1. Quests maps fit better as a connection between RPG with a story and the Building strategy part of the game
2. We are a small studio, so we are not so good at squeezing everything there is from the engine like the AAA studios. So the smaller maps will make it easier for us, not having to sacrifice the graphic quality so much.
Thank you for your time.
And for those of you who still look for the answer
what did peasants find in bushes?
The patch notes of course. I hope you you will forgive me that little clickbait. Have a nice day :)
