A-Star Theft: Overhauls and Refinements


A-Star Theft is getting improvements on many fronts, including revamped spritework and audio, a new tutorial, improved usability and tons of jank has been fixed!



Audio and Visual Upgrades

  • Improved furniture graphics
  • Improved floor graphics and shading
  • Remastered ‘Escaping Snake’ music track in Action and Intimidation variants
  • Added a large variety of footstep sound effects, which vary depending on the ground material
  • Added sound effects for shooting paper
  • Added bullet air sound effect
  • Added more miscellaneous dialog lines
  • Improved some fire effects
  • Improved vault opening animation

Ease Of Use

  • Improved many aspects of Stealth gameplay to make the strategy more approachable
  • Improved settings menu interface and clarity
  • Improved settings menu gamepad navigation
  • Added different images for locked and unlocked doors
  • Added animation to markers when entering a restricted area
  • Changed frequency of dodge leaping
  • Improved walking collisions with angled objects
  • Improved Item Wheel graphics and usability
  • Improved informational graphics
  • Improved various other User Interface aspects
  • Improved usability for interactions with civilians
  • Improved graphics for several interactive objects
  • Improved ease-of-use with many interactive objects
  • Improved clarity of fire damage
  • Slight improvements to melee combat

Miscellaneous Changes

  • Updated credits to include a new developer: Tobias Johansson
  • Redesigned the tutorial mission
  • Added loot: Golden Toilets!
  • Added a keycard to Museum
  • Changed cursor to always start hovering on the getaway van, to remind players of the weapons store
  • Updated main menu credits to reflect current sound effect usage
  • Cleaned up and removed some unused game assets
  • Miscellaneous Improvements

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed starting the game windowed causing improper UI scaling
  • Fixed settings scaling improperly when changing aspect ratio while in the settings menu
  • Fixed some UI elements improperly drawing in the pause menu
  • Fixed UI objective drawing offset when showing a headshot indicator
  • Fixed common issues with dodge leaping into walls and furniture
  • Fixed killing enemies instantly cancelling their bullet sounds
  • Fixed improper enemy vehicle paths in Cocaine Collection
  • Fixed exiting a minigame with the Escape key also pausing the game
  • Fixed Justice Fox getting stuck in his car before Prison Raid
  • Fixed Terrence Koeller sometimes staying after the dialog in Protection
  • Fixed civilian intimidation symbol overlapping with interaction text
  • Fixed action music not playing when starting another heist without restarting the game
  • Fixed C4 explosive timer not pausing when game is paused
  • Fixed cameras detecting player stealing loot from a wider angle than their vision cone
  • Fixed NPC vision range with lower lighting quality settings
  • Fixed noise indicator not showing on some missions
  • Fixed cars moving through objects in The Port
  • Fixed possibility to remain in Overview in the main menu
  • Fixed a few animation errors
  • Fixed a bunch of other jank
