Dev Blog: Major Update Dev Notes

Added a number of features, including friendship system, hunger/thirst system, and
over 100 new items.

Quality of Life

  • Changed the color scheme for the HUD and message boxes from green to transparent gray.
  • Improved aesthetics and operation of the prologue pages.
  • Upgraded coin icon when gold is found
  • Improved message box and HUD frames.
  • Changed the gold display to show zero, rather than blank, when you have no gold.
  • Changed the treasure chests to display a picture or icon of the treasure, when available.
  • Added dozens of pictures for items, weapons, and armor.
  • Added an introduction to the chest, dresser, and journal features in Brendylynn's house the first time they are used.


Game Mechanics

  • Renamed NPCs that had generic names.
  • Added an escape option for battles with wolves in the Woods map.
  • Added fog-of-war to the dungeons under the Guild Hall.
  • Added lights to the dungeons under the Guild Hall.
  • Added battle statistics for elemental rings.
  • Changed sleep and nap functions to advance time to 6:00 am the next day.


New Systems

  • Completely revised the day/night tinting system, to make outdoor lighting appropriate for the time of day.
  • Added a hunger/thirst/stamina system.
  • Added a friendship journal and display.


Bug Fixes

  • Fixed broken interactions with NPCs in Market square.
  • Fixed broken chests in Guild Hall basement.
  • Fixed regions for wolves in the Woods map, so they can move around.
