As the main story progress in the otherworldly version of the Desert of the Trapped and reached The Path to the Black Pyramid, something still feels missing. The cult that is supposed to bring the end of the world and their deeds are simply not giving the feeling of danger and horrible enough. Thus, I think it's a good time somewhat address this.
So, here are some of the major content updates of this week:
1, Very Big Sandworm Boss
As it is indicated in the otherworldly version of this part of the desert, those sandworms were flourishing here as one of the dominating predators on the top of the food chain in another time and space. However, supposedly, they have been extinct for thousands of years in the current timeline.
With this week's updates, it seems not all of them are gone. A new sandworm boss now appears in the south part of the normal version of the Desert of the Trapped. It's ancient as it keeps growing over
millenniums. It can also summon its offspring to join the fight, trying to overwhelm anyone that dares to challenge it. The only good news is, it's quite passive as it's quite understandable to a creature that old. It simply no longer cares much about the world around it. Should you defeat and attack it, you may be about to collect a large amount of acid for your alchemy needs.
2, Slavers
Slavery is one of the most horrible atrocities in human history. Despite all the efforts freedom-loving people all over the world put together to fight it, even in modern societies some forms of such practices still exist, such as the 996 system in China. However, things were even worse in the past. We are talking about the otherworldly version of Egypt in another time and space where pyramids are still being built by enslaved laborers.

Thus, we now have slavedrivers roaming the desert, trying to find new or escaped slaves to satisfy the needs of their dark sun god. They will not hesitate to attack you, along with some of their brainwashed slaves. They have unique AIs to abuse their slaves. They can hit their slaves to encourage them to attack you harder. They can even use necromancer spells to absorb their slaves' life force if their HP is low. Should you defeat them, you may find skill books that teach you their cruel and evil spells. Whether to use such evil tools of enemies to defeat them is up to you to decide.
3, Escaped Slaves
Whenever there is slavery, there are people fighting for freedom. Thus, somewhere on the Path to the Black Pyramid, you can find a small cave with some of the escaped slaves. The cave has a rare river inside providing them with water to drink and fish to eat. It's also a safe place where you and your group can take a rest in such a hostile environment. Your butterfly can teleport you there once you have visited. However, it's not a fairy tale. If you speak to those slaves, you may learn how broken they are. They also mention an experiment that is yet to be fully revealed. It's just the horror story from another prospect.
4, Those Who Failed to Escape
There are a large amount of shade-infected slaves in the otherworldly version of the Desert of the Trapped. They are free from their previous slave masters. However, they are trapped under the influence of the shade. They may have tried. Yet, they failed. A new item drop list has been added to them. You may find their primitive weapons, the blueprint to craft those weapons, and some traces of their struggles. Maybe it will be merciful to put them into peace now.
5, More Butchery Recipe
There is just not enough food in such a desert. Thus, maybe people will have to eat things they usually do not consider eating. Thus, Zhao Sandao, the butcher in "This is a bar" can now make meat from local spiders and sandworms. If you are so desperate, he can also make strange meat from mummies. Hopefully, at least you cooked before eating them. A new simplified campfire cooking device has also been added to the game. You can find one free-to-use in the cave of escaped slaves.
Those are the new horror tales in the desert. Other updates of this week include: summoning spell bug fixes, a travel agency in Liu, new BGMs, and updates to the Boombox.
It has been another quite busy week in real-life. I just came back from a business trip across provinces today. It's a bit exhausting. I haven't made any plans for the next week. But, we will see when we get there. :)
