Gum Ball Run update for 19 March 2023

Hello Gum Balls,

It has been a while since the latest update, I felt it was important to start thinking of more long term progression systems. That's why I have added the following new features:

• Eggs and Pets! Every player now gets a free random egg. By racing and gaining exp in ranked these eggs can eventually hatch into pets! Eggs and pets will follow your Gum Ball wherever you go. Others will see them as well! There are 181 pets to collect, including 9 extremely rare mythical pets.

• 50 single player levels total! Another addition to the single player is that every level now has a top 10 leaderboard.

• Challenges! Complete daily and weekly challenges to unlock new cosmetics and eggs!

• Vote in ranked! You can now vote which race track you want to play.

• Badge icon next to your name and a special name color for those who purchased the Gum Pass.

• Prestige system! When you reach level 100 you can decide to prestige. This will reset your level to 1, upgrade your badge and you will receive a new egg.

So what is the Gum Pass?

The Gum Pass is a 1 time purchase (700 gummies, ~$7) that unlocks most of the progression systems. It's like buying the premium version of Gum Ball Run. There will be no "seasonal passes".

The Gum Pass unlocks:

• The ability to hatch eggs into pets
• The ability to prestige
• The badge icon and special name color
• Exclusive legendary cosmetic
• All 50 single player levels (without Gum Pass the first 5 levels are free. After that its 50 gummies for 5 extra levels)
• All challenges (Without Gum Pass there is 1 daily and weekly challenge)

Without the Gum Pass you can still do online multiplayer and unlock cosmetics like before. All multiplayer aspects will remain free. If you've played the game for a while and you enjoy it you can decide for yourself if you think these added features are worth it. Collecting cosmetics and pets will be a lot easier if you have the Gum Pass.

Another thing I have been working on is a check on backend data loading. In some cases players didn't receive all their game data from the backend. This could overwrite previous data which caused loss of progress.

The game will not load the main menu until all data has been received. If you experience problems you'll need to restart the game and Steam. The cause could be 1 of the following things:

Your internet connection
Your firewall or anti virus software. These 2 might block access to the Gum Ball Run cloud backend and prevent the game data from being loaded.
