SteamDB Extension Privacy Policy
This privacy policy covers our browser extension. This extension needs following permissions to work may record information and set cookies as follows.
If the "Highlight owned and wished products on steamdb.info" option is enabled, the extension will request following user data from the Steam store via https://store.steampowered.com/dynamicstore/userdata/: wishlisted products, owned, followed, ignored products, and products in cart.
Information gathered is used by the extension to apply highlights on the site. The process is contained entirely within user's browser and is not submitted to us or anyone else.
This option allows following options to work by using this extension as a bridge to send these requests to the store: wishlisting products, ignoring products, following products, adding free licenses, and adding products to cart to work on steamdb.info by sending these actions to the Steam store using the extension as a bridge.
To prevent excessive amount of requests to the Steam Store, the user data is cached in user's browser's local storage and may be purged at any time.
If the "Skip age check gate" option is enabled, it will set the following cookies to predetermined values: wants_mature_content, mature_content, lastagecheckage, birthtime. This allows age gate page to be automatically skipped without sacrificing user's privacy.
If the "Display current concurrent players and max peaks on product pages" or "Display last update on product pages" option are enabled, the extension will do a secure request to steamdb.info with the AppID (numeric ID) of the product you are viewing to get the current amount of players and timestamp for last depots update.
If the "Display the lowest recorded price on product pages" option is enabled, the extension will do a secure request to steamdb.info with the AppID (numeric ID) of the product you are viewing and user's set or presumed currency according to Steam to get the lowest recorded price.
If the "Group achievements with data from Steam Hunters" option is enabled, the extension will do a secure request to steamdb.info with the AppID (numeric ID) of the product you are viewing to get achievement groupings.
These requests may be cached by Cloudflare and may not even be forwarded to the origin server at steamdb.info.
SteamDB.info may store following information in its access logs such as the URL user is visiting, user's IP address, browser user-agent, referral URLs. The information is retained for a bare minimum, usually less than a month and are automatically deleted. These logs may be used to detect abuse and to improve service.
SteamDB does not sell your data, shares it with third parties, nor uses it for any other purposes except for those recorded here.
A separate SteamDB privacy policy is available here, and you may read Cloudflare's privacy policy here. Steam's privacy policy is available on Steam homepage.
The SteamDB extension is open source, and you may review the code at your leisure at https://github.com/SteamDatabase/BrowserExtension
