VALVE ANNOUNCES THE LAB
March 7, 2016 -- Valve has announced plans to debut "The Lab," a compilation of new VR experiments, at next week's Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, CA. Set in a pocket universe of Aperture Science, "The Lab" offers multiple ways to enjoy room-scale VR. It will be offered free of charge via Steam this spring. More information will be made available next week at GDC.
There's two versions of The Lab currently available in the Steam Database.
Valve probably separated the development version and release versions of The Lab to prevent us from accessing older versions of the depots like we did with Aperture Robot Repair.
The release version of The Lab was added to a package with a bunch of other apps that will be shown off at GDC. For more on those other apps, see the press release below.
On Wednesday afternoon, and all day Thursday and Friday of GDC, Valve will be handing over its booth space to over 30 third-party developers.
