With the prologue project soon becoming unlisted (meaning if you have it in your account you'll still be able to play it), I've decided to release one last big'ish update for Mercenarism, porting even more changes over from the full game.
This update introduces even more changes/improvements/fixes across the board, as I've been spending most of my time polishing the main game.
Visuals & sound
- added icons to all tips- wet tile visuals improved - tiles out in the rain now look "wet"
- nameplate font used in dialogues now picked based on text width
- updated the loading screen progress bar colors
- updated several UI colors
- tweaked limits of the FPS limiter in the options menu
- hiding the money display in the pause menu when in any of the in-game options menus now
- changed used fonts in the skills menu to make text more readable
Gameplay
- can no longer interact with broken breaker boxes at all- stress on goons no longer gets maxed out when they enter combat
- binary trigger now adds single fire firemode if weapon doesnt have it
- added binary trigger mod to mini uzi
- tweaked Glock-20 and Desert Eagle shot noise radius
- tweaked pathfinding to better avoid tight spaces
- various other AI improvements
- HSR-EMP "recharged" sound pitch shifted to be more distinct from the PKC-EMP "recharged" sound
- reduced minimum required stress for goons to be capable of laying down suppressive fire the player
- enemies now snap out of their "startled" state faster if the player remains in their sight
- punching doors now makes noise
Optimizations
- dead/unconscious NPCs now get ratelimitedFixes
- fixed money not carrying over in New Game+- fixed bad saving/loading of mobile dialogues
- fixed goons taking cover not reacting to gunfire/etc. made by the player, making them extremely vulnerable
- fixes related to enemy death animations
- fixed wrong ammo purchase key
- fixed bad modded weapon icon rendering on old Intel graphics cards and when using the newest AMD drivers
- fixed being able to throw throwables through windows without breaking windows if throwing them at low velocities
- fixed bandage dialogue spam
- fixed key prompt UI displays being incorrectly positioned on certain camera zoom levels
- fixed missing sawn-off shell insertion sounds
- fixed bad spread on slug fire on doublebarrel
- fixed the light indicator on the HUD updating to an incorrect value when pausing the game
- fixed the aim line lagging behind by 1 frame
- fixed mod blueprints not giving money on pickup
- fixed closets not generating gibs when shot
- fixed some more cases of goons being glitched out when using a combination of fire and gas
- fixed goons being capable of returning to idle after sighting the player
- fixed goons not finishing their investigation pathfinding in some cases
- fixed the preset stats panel being visible outside of the intended menu after following a certain order of actions
- several fixes to doors becoming unusable or goons failing to properly interact with doors
- various fixes related to controllers
Miscellaneous
- switched to using LuaJIT 2.1 in favor of 2.0.5 (a CPU performance improvement of 15-30% can be observed, your mileage may vary!)Don't forget to report any issues you run into either on Steam discussions or by joining the game's Discord community.
